Richard502
Over on Ship Model Forum, there is a thread asking that question, with no replies so far. There must be a better chance for an answer on Britmodeller!
dickrd
Given the date (pre CAFO 784/42) and the appearance (perhaps lighter than HFG but darker than FSG) Mountbatten's mix maybe? Edited January 8 by dickrd
ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday, many years ago I did a simple model of HMS Campbeltown (Airfix 1/600), converted to how I thought she appeared on the night of her Operation Chariot raid. AFAIK at the time Humbrol didn't do a Mountbatten Pink in enamel so I mixed my own. I only used Humbrol enamels back then, brush painted. I think if memory serves it comprised of four parts white, two parts red and one part dark blue. I don't know how accurate it was/is but I thought it looked OK. I know it's a rough model but I hope it helps, colour wise. Regards, Jeff.
dickrd
Sorry Jeff but, as that appears on my screen, that is way off - much too pink. This will be closer: But Campbeltown may have used a mix that was both slightly less red and slightly darker. ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday @dickrd, no apology needed. I did this years ago, way before I'd even heard of modeling forums such as Britmodeler and I had nothing to go on. If it's wrong (and it obviously is ) I'd rather you speak up before I lead others astray. Best regards, Jeff.
