Straightening resin parts

Hello all. I am building a resin ship kit, but have found one part is a bit out of true:

 

 

There is quite a bit of fine detail on the deck surface of this part, so I am wary of clamping too hard for this. Will the best way of straightening it be to clamp the part flat onto a metal sheet (using a bulldog clip on the L/H side and a peg on the R/H), immerse it into some hot (not boiling) water and leave it for a while, remove it then run it under cold water to lock it into the new shape?

 

 

I also have three 3D printed small steam Coaster ship models which are also bowed so any advice will help with them too.
