The Roundels appear to be a tad lopsided but that won't matter as I'll be masking and painting my own.

Alongside the entirely fictitious cockpit the Musketeer scheme is as well so I'll be painting this in the standard FAA scheme.

Which is a pity as I like the look of the Musketeer version.

Anyway, I'm now itching to start. So roll on the 7th.

Cheers,

Alistair

Excellent, Alistair! I have to say the Op Musketeer markings do look nice, but I did wonder if they were spurious.....Presumably the Spanish ones are as well?

Looking forward to watching this one come together.

Mark

As far as I can make out the Spanish ones are completely fictitious as well.

I'm looking forward to it as well.

Trumpeter kits may be a little inaccurate but they go together like a dream.

When I built this kit many years ago I remember that the very large oil coolers have nothing inside them, except for the etch grilles. Plastic card was needed to stop that.

Thanks so much for the info.

I'll be prepared.

I know it is 10 years old and that roundels can be a problem, but it is still disappointing to see them so out of register - does not say much for their quality control!

Given that there were only six F.32s built, they barely even served with the FAA, let alone other countries. Extant photos would appear to have their uppers painted in 2 colour camouflage, not the DSG as specified by Trumpeter.

I know, mind you it's not just them.

I bought a sheet of roundels from Hannants two years ago and they were all out of register.

I've emailed them twice about them and am still awaiting a reply and they are still for sale on their website.

I managed to get the above parts primed on Sunday and this morning put some colour on them.

This was followed by some fictitious detail painting.

I also painted up some masking tape on the cutting board for belts.

I'll get the IP decal on and get the tub glued together later on.

Thanks for looking,

Was it X72069 C/C1 type by any chance? If so I had the same problem a couple of years ago and rang them up. They were aware of the problem and offered me a refund if I sent them back but the chap I spoke to said that was the way the batch had come out and they would continue to sell them until they ran out even though they were faulty - I was not very impressed!  Back when David(?) Hannant was still alive this is the sort of thing I used to exchange emails with him about though in fairness it was not at all often and mostly about variation in paint colour between batches. Not really doing their reputation any favours I believe but I suppose the cost of scrapping a whole batch would be quite a bit.

That is exactly the set.

If you look closely at the photo on the website you can see the problem.

I seem to recall reading that they were going to continue selling them even though they were aware of the problem and wasn't surprised when my emails went unanswered.

A bit of a wash with Agrax Earthshade after the belts were fitted and the IP decal applied.

The IP looks adequate.

Finally some PVA masking over the camera hole.

Rapid progress Alistair and everything looks to be coming together well.

Thanks Gents,

It just sort of fell together.

Now I just have to clean up the first Canopy Seam I've ever attempted. :worry:

Proceed in the knowledge that if it comes to it you can have the canopy from my Spiteful kit for a second run at it. Courage, mon ami!

Thanks Tony,

That certainly takes the pressure off.

I'm sure it'll be fine but the offer is very gracious.

Little pressure and lots of time is the best way forward there :)

Well, I might as well get on with it.

Weapons of choice.

After a little scrape and about 20 minutes going through the grades of MicroMesh pads.

That's had a little polish and a dip in Pledge but should be good.

Not as scary as I thought.

Thanks to @TonyOD for the backup offer. It took the pressure off.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair
