Escorts *dead and buried*

Doesn't the name say it all, this GB proposal is about escorts, and escorts only. The builds could be the Ford ones with a capital E, or fighters doing their job covering a bomber force from interceptors, or corvettes (no capital C here)/destroyers/anti-aircraft cruisers/escort carriers/aircraft covering a convoy's safe path through the seas, or even a little figurine of a certain professional if that's yours kinda model :giggle:.

Anything, as long as it is doing its job escorting something. I just gave a few examples that first popped in my mind - yes, also the last one :coolio:. Are you in? V-P

Hm, my ideal would be a RUDDEROW or BUTLER-class DE--Black Cat Models, I'm looking at you! Failing that, I do have Mirage's 1/400 ORP BLYSKAWICA and BURZA, both of which did convoy escort duty.

Blackcat do offer CANNON and EDSALL DEs as well as FLOWER and BATHURST corvettes.

I confess that's what first (or VERY shortly thereafter) came to mind, but you beat me to it.  Hmm, how to explain to the Mrs?  "Well, you see dear, there was some confusion as to the intended subject matter..."

I think the self supporting, dual role planes should be left out. But there are still fighter escorts today, like Flankers flying with Backfires in the Baltic. In Vietnam, didn't the USN use a pair of Phantoms to escort a photo recce Vigilante? Anyway it is, I'm sure there are several post-WW2 subjects eligible for this. V-P

So if this or something similar is ok count me in. Chris

Thanks @vppelt68

This looks like the ideal reason to break out the "rub 'n' buff"...... be careful how you Google this ! :tmi:

Lots of obscure options here, well you would be disappointed if I went for something normal wouldn't you  !

First thoughts IAR 80 ?

Cheers Pat

First thought, well, of course as a Ploiesti interceptor, but surely escorted Rumanian bombers on the Eastern Front too. As such is of course eligible 🙂
