A model every 10 weeks is very impressive,  me I'll be over the moon just to finish the 1/24 Caterham I started in 2021!  Hope you had a great a Christmas and a happy New Year - Andy

Plans or dreams?? Plan is to build several kits,  wait and see what real life in 2023 will allow to do.

But I would like to build a Hot Rod out of the different kits I got.  A friend of mine is building a '34 Ford in 1:1....

The new Hasegawa   Mini

the C1    MG conversion

MotoBitz    Mini Moke

T2 camper by Revell

I don't know if I will do or not,  depends also on which box Catcher my interst when I 'm in the cave.

Firstly I want to finish my 'Euromillions dream garage' Escort Cosworth that I started in the first lockdown, and my replica of my real Mk2 Escort Sport rally car using the lovely resin bodyshell produced by a fellow BM member last year. I've also got a restoration project of a car my late dad built for me sometime in the early 1960's! They are all well advanced so should hopefully be done early in the year.

As to new starts - well I've got more than enough to choose from, but I fancy starting either the 306 Maxi, a Mk1 Escort or Porsche 917 (which I've just bought the paint for from Hiroboy !!) But as my signature says, 'a plan is vital, but....' :)

I've already enough to see me through the greater part of next year.  First finish the Santa Pod Rod (now on the home straight but lots to do on the bodyshell), then the 1/16 scale AMT' 64.5 Mustang coupe that's currently paused at the spraypaint stage.  After those will come the 1/16 scale BMW Isetta and finally the 1/16 scale Bandai Lamborghini Marzal I was lucky enough to land a month or two ago.  Re-learning to airbrush will also occupy quite a bit of time!

During 2023, I aim to finish my:

1/24 MFH/Profil24 kit-bash of the Ford P68/F3L

1/24 Le Mans Miniatures Mirage M1

1/24 Tamiya Ford Sierra XR4i

1/24 Fujimi Lotus Esprit

I also intend to start a new scratchbuild project on the first of January (gulp!).

A plan....?

You guys have PLANS? Like, YEAR Plans.... ⁉️😲Good grief, how half-asked am I?

Try to finish some of the things I've started would be a good start I suppose.

There is an Entropy Group Build scheduled for the year that might be of interest to some vehicle makers. Barn finds, old wrecks, abandoned, degenerating, that kind of thing.

I'll be taking a shot at that, I hope, but probably not a car.

As for the rest, I've no idea.

Modelling is like a box of chocolates.... 😋

If my past recent years are anything to go by, I'll likely build something like 10-13 kits over the course of the year. Amongst the stash of (currently) 62, some of the following are contenders for the other 4 of the 5 "more effort required" builds I plan to tackle aside from the DS3 I've just started, so any of the below may well get selected for later this year. None of them are certainties yet except for the 787B which I've promised myself I'll build in 2023. The Ford Focus WRC is looking pretty likely. To say nothing of whatever kits I add to the stash during the year, some of which could fit in the category, depending on what I find.

5 is my minimum target for the "more effort required" builds.

Tamiya Mazda 787B. (why: Decals, detailing the engine, there's a PE set to apply)

Airfix Ferrari 365 GT4 BB (why: Needs entire interior scratch building and wheels/axles fixing or replacing, and current paint stripping. It's a "barn find")

Tamiya JACCS Accord (why: Decals - probably the most daunting decal work I can imagine)

Hasegawa Taka-Q 88C (why: Masking)

Tamiya 1998 JGTC NSX (why: detailing (it has an engine), decals, masking, time consuming)

Tamiya Xanavi Nismo Z (why: Decals)

Tamiya Ford Focus WRC 2001 (why: Decals, curved masking)

Belkits Citroen C3 (why: everything about it screams "time consuming" (albeit satisfying) and the decals look like a lot of work)

Gunze-Sangyo Porsche 959 Dakar (why: curved masking. Possible adjustment/hacking of body and subsequent addition of engine from Tamiya 959 kit *if that looks feasible)

Fujimi Marlboro McLaren F1 GT Zhuhai (why: Masking and some complex curved surface decalling, and I've heard it's a tricky build in parts and a few things need correcting too)

Fujimi McLaren MP4-12C  (why: There's a lot of holes to be opened if using the supplied PE)

Aoshima Nissan Leopard J. Ferie (why: I might possibly open up the bonnet if that seems feasible, scratch build an engine bay and see if I can fit in the Tamiya Twin Turbo engine from a 300ZX)

And in and around that, I'll pick some other more straightforward builds. That's the hope anyway. Sometimes ordinary builds just get more complicated. Or I make them that way.

Having managed only 5 completions last year I dont want to be too ambitious.  3 were cars, I build OOB for quickness, not achieved due to the time it takes for me to get a decent body finish / shine!

Honour demands building one's Christmas presents first so the first two builds will be:

AMT 1940 Ford Coupe

Hasegawa 77 Safari Stratos

Those should be followed by the 2022 NASCAR wending it's way up from Portugal, and then some of the ten-year stash of car kits (at 2022 completion rate).  That's if I ignore all the plane kits etc, tbh the Ukraine "situation" seems to have soured the idea of my building war machines for the time being.

Best Wishes for the New Year.

Maybe we need to set up a therapy group where a dozen or so of us sit around in a circle and individually say ' I am (name) and I am addicted to making model cars!'. Lol.

I have a Revell Porsche Cabrio to build, and I managed to get a 3D printed Lotus Cortina body in 1/24th scale to make a model of the actual  car I owned during the 70's from Andy Swindlehurst at Telford SMS Show.

Planning on getting the Italeri Bugatti 35B as I have been looking forward to its release. More affordable than the MFH one for me!

Uh-oh... I'm sure I won't manage half of these, and then other projects will surely demolish most of my plans anyway... 🤔

Auto Union Typ C, MFH 1/12

2x Mercedes W196, FPPM and Protar 1/24

Alfa Romeo P2 FPPM 1/24

Renault Estafette 1000 kg Assistance Course, Heller conversion 1/24

Renault Dauphine R1093, Two Cats Modelos 1/24

Alpine A220, Profil 24 1/24

Ferrari 250 P5, SMP 24 1/24

Then there are 4x Audi Quattro and a Renault 4 Sinpar Paris-Dakar half done and stalled I should take care of... and... 🙄

It'll be interesting to revive this thread at the end of the year and see just how many of us have achieved even a small proportion of our planned builds. As for me, the main aim is to reduce the size of the stash, or at a minimum for it not to grow any larger. I managed to shrink it (by one kit) in 2021 and it's remained the same size in 2022 so this isn't an impossible dream.

As for this year's builds, I think it's fair to say that it's about as varied as it can be under the 1/24 or 1/25 car banner:

The first ones are easily guessable:

Complete the Gullwing Mercedes

Complete the Alpine A110

The next aim is to rebuild a Tamiya Porsche 956 I did when I was 12. That will be quite a large project for me as I'll need to disassemble it (why do I always think of Johnny 5 when I say that?), repaint then put it back together. I got the decals from Indycals this year so don't want to leave it too long.

The other two targets are to get paint on a Nissan Micra and Pontiac Grand Prix. I suspect one of those will be done before the Porsche as I expect to be ready for a relatively quick build by then as neither the VW van done earlier nor the Merc 300SL are quick builds. So the aim for this year is three completions, three completions on painting bodies in addition to the Alpine, and buying no more than two extras for the stash. Wish me luck!

I can't see my rate of two models per year changing any time soon... So 2023's lucky candidates are a Revell Ferrari 512 TR and an Aoshima Lamborghini Aventador roadster.

This will be the first time I hopefully use an airbrush to paint the bodies so I'll be using the Ferras a guinea pig since I have two versions of that kit so have a spare body in the stash should I mess the first one up

Aside from my list above, 2023's build plans might also include some of the following, if they're released this year:

Platz NuNu Audi A4 BTCC (Seems likely, 1999.co.jp have it out in January).

Belkits Maxi Megane

Belkits Hyundai i20

Belkits Ford RS200

Aoshima Liberty Walk Murcielago

NuNu Porsche 911 GT3 RSR

Nunu 911 GT3 RSR, if/when they release it

Aoshima Subaru BRZ

Aoshima Lamborghini Aventador

Tamiya Jägermeister BMW 635 CSI

Hasegawa Porsche 944 Turbo

And, if I can locate a decent 1/24 slot car body to combine with a Nunu Audi R8 GT3, a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo
