I don’t know 😂.  According to the software and some of my experiments it’ll cut card (business card thickness, possibly thicker), and the same in plastic.  The software allows the cut to be set for multiple passes/cuts so the blade doesn’t have to do all the work in one go.  But, I do know it’ll cut suitably thin plastic sheet for the vortex generators.  It occurs to me that you could even use the Oramask for those, they won’t need any structural integrity - but of course the tackiness would be a problem.  Almost any material though, thin enough at attached to the cutting board would work for this task.

Definitely a thought.  I’ve done PE VGs in 1/72 and they were worth it, but a pain.  @Pappy’s observations are, as Mark says, very valid.  Getting an even line of holes drilled in the wing is tedious but doable, but the whole PE/Cyano thing is definitely an angst ridden activity.  If the Cutter can cope with tiny VG shapes then planting plastic VGs in the wing with say TET would be much less problematical.  I think.  I hope.

 

PS.  You want a long attachment stub on each VG!

 

 

 

Equally valid points re attaching them.  I’d go with a tiny drop of Elmers glue as the most forgiving option.  Put them on last - onto a gloss coat (to better control the glue and make clean up easier), when happy with alignment and glue is set, final paint (at low pressure ) and seal/finish coat.

 

Edit to add: as someone else raised the point; would it be worth it?  I doubt I’d bother… 😂

A wee update,

I spent a couple of hours last night getting some of the PE on.

 

 

 

There is still a fair bit to do but it's a start at least.

The Air Brake consisted of six separate parts but should look decent under paint.

Lots more PE bling to come I'm working on the nose wheel at the moment.

This evenings progress with blingy bits, 8 to be precise with 4 more chain attachment loops to be laminated and fitted.

But my eyes are birling now and tired, so I think discretion etc.

 

 

 

Once the loops are fitted it should look decent under paint.

This is looking pretty epic Alistair. The number of times I've passed this on the shelves, been briefly tempted by the price, size and subject, then moved on, smugly thinking 'nah, you'll have to wake up earlier in the morning to catch me out, Tamiya'. Folding all that intricate PE looks about as horrific as the base kit!

To be honest the Flight Path stuff is well designed and any folds have been fairly straightforward.

Laminating some of the smaller parts is another story

Even more PE.

Oh and I also drilled a couple of holes for aerials and generally fragile sticky out bits.

 

 

 

 

 

I ordered up a metal nose pitot today which is why the plastic has been fitted, chopped off some PPP applied to smooth the join up.

There is more PE to go but it's getting inexorably closer to the moment when I have to fit PE to the canopy and i'm not looking forward to that.

Believe it or not, Roger I'm quite enjoying the PE once it's in place.

The cutting, grinding and precise placement not so much but when I look at the Nose Wheel it's worth it.

That's a splendid idea. I don't want to fog or mess up the clear bits with glue.

Of Course I'm going to have to paint the inside of the PE before it goes on.

You had probably figured that out.

I'm sort of thinking out loud in the hope that I'll remember before I do something stupid.

Yup for the canopy PE I always use Crystal clear....

In fact it is glued more firmy , CA glue is not reliable... So most of my PE is glued with Crystal clear...

Can't wait to see it painted now....

Even when it start like a cunning plan.... Or maybe anytime when it look like a great idea....

Most of the PE I put on is placed with Krystal Klear or MIG Ultra Glue.

Ah Yes I've had more cunning plans rise up and bite me than I want to think about.

But what's the point of doing something the sensible and easy way.

I finally got the guts up to go for the canopy PE.

 

 

 

Then the IP was finally fitted.

 

 

 

 

 

As you can see my PE bending skills are less than stellar but once the glue is set it'll get formed closer to shape and then a liberal amount of PPP to blend it all in.

Once I get it masked and some paint flung at it it should look reasonable.

In, fact from about a foot away at the moment it looks fairy nuff.
