As you can see my PE bending skills are less than stellar

Better than mine I can assure you - that would've been binned by now! Looking very nice...

Late to start following this thread but now very keen to see what you do next.

I bought this very same kit last year because it was cheap and I was getting back into this hobby.....and like you, subsequently read the reviews and consigned it to the shelf!

I have since taken it back out but, unlike you I wasn't brave enough to try and make anything worth showing off from this kit.

The fuselage and wings have been thrown together (poor fit and all) and now serve the sole purpose of test piece for anything new I try with my airbrush.

What you have achieved with this kit so far is very impressive, looking forward to the final results.

The old Airfix 1/72 Harrier up next after this?

:door::boom:

I think not.

I've got plans for my next build.

Here's a wee teaser

Thanks very much Alex,

I'll be happy if it's vaguely harrier shaped in the end.

It's been shouting at me from the pile for about 4 years and i figured what's the worst that can happen.

I have no expectations regarding the kit but I'm using it to challenge myself in a vain attempt to improve what limited skills I have.

Cheers,

Alistair

Pic 1 is a close up of a Beaufighter or other Hercules engine cowling?

Stone* house with shutters, farm in countryside with broom/gorse.

Hmmmmmm. ... Nope!

Regards,

Adrian

* who chose the stone colours? And why??

Would it be a Beaufort Alistair

Chris

No it's not a Beaufort.

I know I've got that Airfix one waiting to go but there's no way I could follow @Dunny's spectacular build that's just finished.:D

Although Roger did put this one in my head with a recent build.

Cheers,

Alistair

John Stonehouse flew a Beaufighter for 489 Squadron from RAF Dallachy before becoming a politician and faking his own death?

He was my MP back in 1974, Walsall North, my Dad took the young me to see him give a speech “on the hustings”.  Thread drift in full flow…..

Spot on.

Not the Stonehouse version but a Dallachy Strike Wing Torbeau.

The pic is actually the Memorial in Bogmoor.

Well done that man.

Funny, I was listening to a podcast series recently about him and it didn't mention flying at all.

He was in the RAF 1944-46, so not such a long time. Perhaps for people of his generation some amount of military service is assumed and so it is not considered noteworthy in itself.

Now, about that Sea Harrier....

About time too I hear you scream.

Not much of an update.

I realised that I hadn't done anything about the detcord for the canopy so the lateral lines were masked off and painted.

I'll do the longitudinal ones tomorrow.

I've played with the Silhouette software and made up a mask for the main detcord which I'll test out tomorrow.

To find something to do I got the canopy support painted and glued in position.

And because i'm feeling optimistic got the seat fitted.

Normal service has been resumed.

Thanks for looking,

Thanks Chris,

If the detcord doesn't work I will probably just skip it.

Cheers,

Alistair

Wait a minute...

I'll see in my harrier parts...

I painted mine on the canopy then I saw that detcord were included in the PE fret.

I'll have a look and I find it, I can send it for your SHar.

That is extremely kind of you Alain,

I may well take advantage of your kind offer if the mask doesn't work.

Alistair

After i got some paint on the outside I masked up for the detcord and with heart pounding misted a first light coat on the mask.

Once that's had a chance to dry a bit I'll give it a second mist and then we'll see how it turns out.

Thanks for looking,
