TonyOD
I have quite a bit of history with carrier planes as for quite a while FAA subjects were my thing. I'll put a few on here over the coming weeks in the run-up to the start of the GB. This Wessex was my very first WIP/RFI on Britmodeller a couple of years ago - like many a build, a lockdown baby! ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday All, one of the contenders for this GB is an 'R' class battleship converted from an Airfix HMS Warspite kit in 1/600 scale. This model was the first that I did when taking up the hobby on a continual basis somewhat over 25 years ago. HMS Warspite was a WW1 veteran that had a major rebuild in the mid/late 1930s and the kit depicts her at the completion of that rebuild. I did my model OOB. Please excuse the slightly blurred photo. The 'R' class battleships were a later class of ship but were slightly smaller, and none had the rebuild that three of the QEs (Warspite included) received. The bridge structure remained looking more like the Iron Duke class. Below is my model of HMS Iron Duke as at the Battle of Jutland. As you can see above, the Iron Duke class had ten 13.5-inch guns in five turrets. The QE and R class had eight 15-inch guns in four turrets. The 'R' class also had their 6-inch casemate guns further aft. Below is a whiff of one of the Iron Duke's sister-ships HMS Benbow with four turrets. If I do an 'R' class she might look something like the above but with a single funnel. Another contender for this GB is a Flower class corvette, of which I've not got any other models to show. Thank you for your interest. Regards, Jeff.
TonyOD
Another one of my past efforts, which in fact I'll be revisiting (albeit in a different scale) for the GB. Supermarine Seafire FR Mk 46 at RNAS Lossiemouth in 1948, personal mount of station c/o Captain (later Admiral of the Fleet Sir) Caspar John. Jays/Ventura 1/72 kit with all the aftermarket in the world thrown at it, together with various parts cannibalised from other kits. Can I just say that's a very elegant looking ship @ArnoldAmbrose, beautiful colour scheme. 19
Rabbit Leader
Looking back at my few completed builds, I only have three that fit this GB category. Hopefully I can add at least one more. 1. Airfix’s quite nice 1/72 A-4B Skyhawk, my first BM RFI. I suspect to see quite a few Scooters on here. 2. Airfix’s really nice 1/72 Beaufort, which also happened to be my first BM WIP thread (seeing these kits landed in Oz first!) 3. Airfix’s nicely planned 1/48 Sea Fury, although not shown on here for some reason, so here’s a photo on a suitably themed base. Good luck everyone and Merry Christmas. Cheers.. Ray S
A few of my 'could-have-been-candidates-but-built-too-soon' subjects: Flyhawk Grosse Torpedoboot G39 1/700 Airfix Severn Class RNLI Lifeboat 1/72 Combrig tug 'Roland' 1/700 Scratchbuilt SS Ophir 1/170 Contrail Short Singapore III 1/72 Aeroclub Felixstowe 1/72 Scaleplanes Burgess-Dunne floatplane 1/72 Airfix HM Bark Endeavour 1/120 And finally, not quite a Salty Seadog, but a watery subject! A scratchbuilt pike... I hope they inspire somewhat, really looking forward to the GB starting properly. Ray

Chewbacca
I only have, I think, 3 models in my completed collection that wouldn't fit with this GB so I won't put them all up here but here's a cross section: 1/350 HMS HECLA,, South Atlantic June 1982. Fully scratch built with extensive use of3D printing for the Falklands 40 GB. One of the very few GBs that I managed to finish in the allotted time period! 1/350 HMS BULOLO, flagship of Admiral Lord Louis Mountbatten, off Singapore 1945.. Scratch built (no 3D printing this time!) for the Pacific War GB (though not finished in time) 1/350 Atlantic Models HMS PUMA, Navy Days 1970 1/48 Westland Wasp, 829 HECLA Flight, South Atlantic June 1982. Based "loosely" on the Fujimi kit with extensive scratch building and a scratch built flight deck/quarterdeck base 1/48 Trumpeter Hawker Seahawk FGA6, 804 NAS, HMS BULWARK 1956, Operation Musketeer. Figures adapted from Eduard US Navy personnel 1942. 1/48 Grand Phoenix Firefly NF Mk 1, 1792 NAS, HMS OCEAN, 1946. Aircrew from CMK. 1/600 HMS INTREPID, from the Airfix FEARLESS kit. As she was at anchor off the Caribbean island of Bequia for a beach banyan in late February 1981 1/600 HMS GLASGOW from the AIrfix BELFAST kit and a lot of scratchbuilding! Set in Romdalsfjord in Norway on 29 April, GLASGOW has just evacuated King Haakon and Crown Prince Olav of Norway, and part of the Norwegian gold reserves from advancing German forces in Molde and are enroute to Tromso. Still haven't decided what I'm doing for this GB. Can't be anything too complex or I'll never finish it in time!
ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday @Ray S and @Chewbacca, you've both done great models, and I particularly like the ships. A question for you, Ray - what scale is the Pike? 😁 Regards, Jeff. 2 1
Ray S
1 hour ago, ArnoldAmbrose said: A question for you, Ray - what scale is the Pike? 😁 Ah, that depends on whether it was fully grown or not, I will leave you in suspense Jeff! I thought it would be 1/72, and it eventually found it's way into a diorama I did of some smugglers in a rowboat: The pike is lurking in the reeds by the aft starboard quarter! TonyOD
Some absolute stunners above. Loving the little rowboat and the RNLI lifeboat especially. 3
TonyOD
AZ Model 1/72 Supermarine Attacker prototype. I started this one around 2012, half built it and lost interest. I put my cutting mat and the bits and pieces of Attacker on top of a wardrobe where they literally gathered dust until COVID came along, so down it came. Not much to shout about in terms of modellin’ skillz but it was my doorway back into the hobby.

theplasticsurgeon
I'm only posting those models related to my build project. First Airfix 1/72 Seafire Ib Then - same kit as Seafire IIc Decals for both these from the Airfix FAA Club set. Far too many other USN, USMC, FAA and other inspirations to post.
