FW-190A3, 3./JG 2 (Hptm. Hans Hahn)

This is my first build here. About a year ago I managed to buy such a kit from hands.

And I got guns by Master this week.

But I want to build A3's variant in Tamiya's kit 61037.

First I installed the wheels bay.

I cut the plastic incorrectly and cracks formed. I will remove them later. It was also difficult to install the bay in the center.

I was upset when I found a  stumps on the cockpit floor for his legs. So I made a elements that, in general terms, repeated the original. I will install leg bindings after painting.

Edward's photoetch is often flat in cases where it is not. I made a handle instead of a flat piece.

Engines are always my headache. Only if you are building a large scale model  you are not be cut with a scalpel and your desk will not be covered in your blood when you remove the pushers of cylinders.

20221117-221251.jpg

I had made the pushers out of copper wire.

My set is A4, but I want A3, so I had made new panels with holes.

I wish you a enjoy watching

Be careful with the cowling assembly. I had many gaps when building mine.

Thanks. I must was to cut some parts of original fuselage, what I could install elements of engine bracing. So work will difficult with cowling.

Hey everybody! Unfortunately my progress is a little. I installed few photoetched elements. The belts' binding I made from wire. They didn't fixed. I will glue them and another details after painting. And I made the oxygen's regulator. I didn't find good photos its, but I think this isn't too important if I made a mistake. I also made the walls of the pilot's seat thinner.

Enjoy to watching.

Nice work.

It'll be interesting to see if the QB cowl, intended for the old Eduard 190 will fit the Hasegawa kit..?

Matt

Thank you.

I don't know, I didn't think about it. I'd bought this cowl with all aftermarket products. May be, I will not use it.

Why am I building models so long time? I have too many ideas. This is one of them.
A3 have a different kind of rudder frame and sagging of metal canvas and I decided to make it. I'd copied painting instruction for Tamiya's A3, cuted and glued on Tamiya's clear plastic. I'd made windows and cuted on the contour. I leveled the surface on kit's plastic and glued my new detal. I removed the excess thickness with an abrasive on a sponge. Unfortunately, I can't take a good photo and show you this, but I can feel the bumps. I don't want to make them too deep and I hope they show up better after painting.

Sweet idea on the rudder!

Thank you. I often copy different sets different scales. Unfortunately, in Russia I never had opportunities to get  a set that I need quickly. I always must was to expect a month and more. And sometimes it was only in another scale. I use a lot of scans of photoetched sets, instructions for different models different scales for my builds.

'Necessity is the mother of invention!' If someone asks, 'hey, is that a photo etch or resin part?' you get to say, 'no. I made all of that myself!'

I not only copy. I  can add a few elements and correct mistakes if they are. I rarely use all set. If I need several parts and don't need all set, why do I need to buy it? :coolio:

Hi everyone. I said above that I don't have enough time to progress quickly. But I sometimes leave in business trips and I'm in it right now. So I have a little progress.
I installed side panels and clean up.

Before my business trip I whittled panels of control and covered with surface primer. They don't look neat and I don't like it. But they look better that Hasegawa had did this elements. In future I will change the making technology of them.

Just caught up with your build - this is some really great work you're doing! The new rudder is excellent, and the louvred panels behind the cowling look incredible!

Looking forward to seeing your next update :)

Cheers,

Mark

@PaulN, @mick, thank you!

I bought this set and got last week.
https://www.scalemates.com/sr/kits/eduard-48595-fw-190a-8-landing-flaps--117576
But I can't find pictures or schemes where I can see construction and networks on fixed wing parts.
I could find only this, but they don't answer all my questions.

Somebody have more information about it? Thanks.
