As soon as this landed on the doormat I knew it wouldn't be long before I had a crack at it.

I mean it's an Arma Hobby Hurricane. Even better it's a Sea Hurricane.

On with some pics.

I'll be doing one of the Yellow Tails that was involved in Operation Pedestal.

I'm just not sure which one yet.

Plastic to be butchered starting tomorrow.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

  • AliGauld changed the title to Their Red Lights Flashing In The Hot New Jersey Night - Arma Hobby 1/72 Sea Hurricane MK.IB

I'm in! It just has to be a Pedestal scheme, doesn't it?

Looking forward to seeing your progress - it's high time I had another crack at an Arma Hurry :) so I'll be following closely!

All the best,

Mark

If there's one thing I associate Sea Hurricanes with, it's...New Jersey?

Sorry, it's just this sad individual crowbarring a Bob Dylan lyric into a title.

It absolutely has to be.

Don't follow too closely as I'll make a few errors along the way. I always do.

Cheers,

Alistair

Ah, the moment you said that, I knew instantly which Dylan song it was, despite having never heard it, or any song by him aside from All Along the Watchtower.

FWIW, I have an uncle who lived in New Jersey for many years; like about half the people in the state, he worked in New York (so do the other half, but in organised crime). I remember it principally consisting of highway overpasses.

No you won't - it'll be a breeze for a fella of your calibre! They're great kits, as Edward can confirm.

My impression is much the same but that mainly comes from the opening titles to "The Sopranos" in saying that on my last trip to NYC we took the train out to Redbank to go to The Stash and it seemed mainly to be salt marshes and not much else.

I'm looking forward to it as I've done other versions of their Hurricanes before and their Mustang is one of the finest kits I've built.

This is Mr. Heavy-handed here we're talking about. If I don't stuff something up on a build then something serious has gone wrong. :rofl2:

Lots of Hurricanes (Spitfires too) being built recently. I never tire of them, happy days!

I have a Mk I in the stash so will follow along.

Richie

You are very welcome.

Nice to have you along for the ride.

Cheers,

Alistair

Oh yes, can't wait to see what you make of this one. I grabbed one the very yocto second they hit UK shores (despite already having the 'navy colours' boxing that I was going to be-hook-ify somehow). Yellow tail Pedestal sounds about perfect (although I seem to recall, in persuing the instructions, that accounts for about 8 out of the 5 schemes). Anyway, chop chop, and show me how to carve up the aft fuselage, there's a good chap

I had forgotten I had the Navy Colours one until you mentioned it, which means I have that and a IIC to do at some point as well.

Oh and the Eduard reboxing too.

I'm looking forward to this one but more surgery. What was I thinking.

Alistair

So sorry to tell you that my youngest daughter and I have now put you on our musical heathen/heretic list. We're big Dylan fans.

Thanks Roger,

Me too,

I've just had a good look at the destructions and I think I've just got a bit more scared.

Apologies for it not being the Beaufort but i couldn't stop myself.

Thanks Mark,

See above,

Well terrified would be closer to it.

There is a fair bit of cutting required.

No wukkas, as is the local vernacular. You may however lose first access to that EDSG over white scheme - just sayin'...

Well, I am in Alistair, a Hurricane/ Sea Hurricane at that.

You`re building them fast mate.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Glad to have you along for the journey. Simon.

No point in hanging about then.

And certainly no going back now.

And a quick dry fit.

Some minor fettling required but that will do and that's the scary bit out of the way.

Once my hands stop shaking and my eyes stop birlin' I'll get some more plastic cut and get on with it.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair
