Terry1954
Incredible weathering there Johnny. I think you are well qualified to join the Entropy Group Build. The subject fascinates me also, especially living near to the Lulworth tank ranges. Lots of rusting and shot peppered hulks everywhere. I've a mind to create one out of some old Tamiya tank sometime, but sadly the Group Build schedules are too tight for my snails pace of construction! It’s something that interests me greatly. Every time I get my teeth into a bit of age and decay (not on my person you understand) 🫣 I just get a real urge to take it to the next level. This GB sounds like just the ticket. I’ve been accepted so I just need to settle on a thing to build. I may do the flight deck thing. I’m also pondering my Land Rover. 🤔🤔😍😍 54 minutes ago, 81-er said: I'm reserving judgement until nearer the time depending on how I've got on with finishing off the multitude of current projects James Ok. rob Lyttle
I'm gonna be throwing my hat into the ring for the Entropy GB for sure. I think it'll be a corker!! "Will they let me in?"..... 😅‼️ I'd say you'll be headhunted by the team if they see this Mirage build 👍 It's going to be a festival of madcap creativity and alternative modelling 1
The Spadgent
Evening folks. Hope you’re all having a relaxing weekend. It’s been a heck of a week but it’s all calming a little now. Progress has been made on the mirage. happy with the flory pass I did a seali g coat of Ts-13. I find the gloss is a really good surface for weathering passes. When that was dry I did the other side. Now what’s next. Well there’s these. And. Now I know it says “rust” but that’s just the colour. I’m not going for rusty I’m going for extremely weather beaten and baked. It’s tough to get the final picture without the Matt coat but I’ll step you through my process and hopefully it’s come good at the end. Soooo we start here. I started on the main fuselage. I want to add more gunge and blotchiness to the main areas. I start off with broad brush strokes. Then blend with a dry cotton bud. You can see up there where I have and haven’t blended. I know a few couldn’t see quite what I was doing on my hind build when I did this but it was a lot more subtle. Here on the tail you can really see the process. step one. Stains where I want in bold strokes. Step two. Wait a few mins for the fluid to dry a little. Then at it with a dry cotton bud. Step three. Eventually the lines between the two blur and you stop when you’re happy. Luckily this stuff comes off with white spirit too so even when dry you can knock it right back.😍 The fuselage is getting there. Here’s an example of a wing before bud action. And after. There’s no real rhyme or reason to it you just use your references and add a huge dollop of artistic licence. Here’s a bit more. You can see where the wash ends in some places so I’ll fix that with fresh eyes tomorrow. I’m enjoying the process and the look. Just for Fun I did a dry fit of the front UC. phew! She fits. Looking forward to doing the underside pass now. 👌 Hopefully more tomorrow. Johnny. 🖤

The Spadgent
Good evening Brit modeller’s. Excuse the lack of upstates I have been busy getting ready for @AdrianMF’s “out of your comfort zone GB that starts one day before my birthday on the eighth of next month. It’s come around really rather quickly and I had to print the kit I’ll be using. 😇 all rather exciting. 🖤 I finished printing Friday night which meant I got some time over this weekend to work on the mirage. picking up from where I left off was a bit of a struggle. The streaking stuff had really dried over the week so I had to go at it with white spirits to remove it and start those bits again. No great shakes though and the underbelly got done. Which is pretty good considering I was drinking these on Friday. I need to paint the radar cone on the front of the main fuselage. I want that to be less grotty than the rest so I’ve left it till now. First thing though I need to fit the pointy bit that I just know I’ll snap off at some point but it has to be done. Fits well but leave quite the step so. Sprue goo to the rescue! that’ll need to dry before sanding. It’s that time in the build where all the bits and bobs need to get sorted. I decided to add the PE and actuators to all the UC doors. And. the rockets also got a little bit drilled out leaving a cap just on the inside. Now I think it’s time for primer. Psssst!!! Then the whole lot needed a pre shade. Remembering not to pre shade the areas to be painted silver because as we all know kids. “It’s pointless” 🤣 silver first. As you can see I didn’t follow my own rules. (I forgot what I was doing) one of the tanks I have decided to do silver and not match the camo scheme as though it was a rush job switch over. I saw this on another build but slightly different and thought it was feather effective. Alas all that pre-shade gone to waste on that tank. But look at the shine!!! Not for long. The other tank will be camo. Blue first. Then a spot of mr Neo. Before the top sand coat. Then rubbed away to leave a pleasing worn effect. The acrylics dry pretty quick so the tin around is fast. ❤️ These things are bigger than some of my actual kits. the uc doors and what not then got their blue coat next. Then time for lunch. Mushroom risotto with cauliflower rice. Mmmmmm. Zero was also in need of lunch it seems. 🤣 The rockets got a base coat. Then masked for there extra colours. Even the little rear blaster. Paint applied. And everything got a gloss coat. I had to hold this one in the oddest position as I do t want to get gloss on the silver. I did spray one of the doors silver sections with Ts-13 but it reacted really rather badly. Maybe it’s not fully cured? Maybe it just hates me? Who knows. I haven’t top coated any of the metallics on this build as it’s just too unpredictable. And there I’m leaving everything until it all sets and I can start the weathering. 😉 I did build this too. You have to glue each join one at a time as the locating pins are rubbish but it’s quite satisfying when complete. And that is that. Thanks for dropping by. This build will have to motor along now as I have a bit of a deadline. Wish me luck. Happy modelling chums. Johnny 🤞

Terry1954
All coming along very nicely indeed Johnny. Especially love that Matra R530 missile. Brandy
I think the risotto could use a bit more black base, but otherwise looks good!
