Weird or What? The unconventional, eclectic and downright odd - 21 weirdos we need more!!

As you may well know I tend to favour the unusual, eclectic or downright odd in my models so I thought why not table a Group build of oddities for 2024.

So that’s the basic premise, build something odd in any scale. Some examples..

113888-F0-A399-4-C07-8228-4-D037-BF71-FA

The He119

25-B05915-7-FC1-4-E26-B1-FB-63-E477-D173

The Stipa Caproni

3-D3317-D2-5-D78-48-E6-A3-E6-8-AAF7-A8-B
The Blackburn Blackburn

508-E2-E9-B-A59-F-4-BC9-981-E-D080982-AD
The Sablatnig triplane.

Actually since I started the thread I’ve built the Heinkel, the Caproni and the Sablatnig and I’m a good halfway into the Blackburn. But still plenty of material out there e.g.

  • Marklo changed the title to Weird or What? The odd and eclectic

OK - I first thought I was too conservative and didn't have anything. But when reviewing my stash I found the following -

Nakajima J1N1-S Gekko   https://www.vectorstock.com/royalty-free-vector/nakajima-j1n1-gekko-irving-vector-30016009

Grumman J2F Duck    https://www.pinterest.com/pin/profiles-pics-wwii-aircraft--291959988336897304/

Curtiss A-8 Shrike    https://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/ww2planes/ww2-curtiss/48802/view/curtiss_a-8_shrike/

What do you think - put me on the list?

I could offer one of the following (if odd enough?).

  • 1920s AW Argosy airliner
  • Boulton Paul Overstrand
  • Fairey Rotodyne
  • Bond Bug

Please sign me up Mark, if I'm on the right track.

Cheers

🎼 Now, this could only happen to a guy like me
And only happen in a forum like this
So may I say to each of you, most gratefully
As I throw each one of you a kiss

This is my kind of GB
Eclectic is my kind of GB
Eclectic is my kind of people too
People who smile at you and

Each time I roam
Eclectic is calling me home
Eclectic is why I just grin like a clown
It's my kind of GB.

My kind of GB
Eclectic is my kind of GB
Eclectic is my kind of raz-ma-taz

And it has all that jazz and
Each time I leave
Eclectic is tugging my sleeve
Eclectic is a wooden submarine
Eclectic is a forty ton APC
Eclectic is one GB that won't let you down
It's my kind of GB.

I believe you can add my name to the list Mark. 😆

an "Outrageous" class battlecruiser of 1917, specifically HMS Glorious?

I wouldn’t see it as weird however the premise of a large light cruiser would fit into my other GB proposal.

What if someone wants to build a weird what if?

Not sure if I’d allow that. I like my realities and my fantasies well separated. They could of course sign up for the flights of fancy GB which is pretty much solely WHIFs.
