Skodadriver
Rock guitarist and national treasure Wilko Johnson has died at the age of 75. I saw him with the original Dr Feelgood when they were doing the college circuit in the early 1970s and remained a confirmed fan ever since. Despite the heavy influence of Mick Green, Wilko's playing style was absolutely unique and couldn't be mistaken for anyone else. Personally I think his recent work with Roger Daltrey is among the best he ever did, particularly considering his health at the time. Thank you for the music Wilko. Whofan
It's really amazing to think he was given 9 months to live, almost 10 years ago. I was convinced I'd seen him with Roger Daltrey in concert, but my conviction seems wrong. I may have seen a recording of a show. I never saw Dr Feelgood live, but every time on tv it was Wilko that you had to watch. Wonderful guitar player, nice to see Skoda Driver rates the album he did with Daltrey, too. A sad day but one Wilko put back for 10 years, and made more great music for us all to enjoy.
psdavidson
Oh no. That's so sad. At least he had the unexpected extra time
Spookytooth
Sad news indeed, I had the joy of engineering for him and his band a couple of times. A lovely polite gentleman, will be missed. Simon.
Nick Belbin
Very sad. I saw Dr Feelgood only once in the early 70s. We managed to persuade our art master to take a bit of a detour to the pub they were playing at, after our visit to a couple of museums in London. Hook
Truly a one off and one of the main reasons I bought myself a Telecaster. Thanks for the music, sir.
TonyOD
Thought he was indestructible. A great character, a fine musician and bleedin' terrifying in Game of Thrones. RIP.
Zephyr
I'm genuinely sad to hear that Wilko has left us. A true original, in a class of his own.
