Latinbear
Having never seen a US aircraft carrier up close I decided to join last week's Timeline Events organised trip to Stokes Bay to see the USS Gerald R Ford. As there have already been images of the Ford featured in this section I won't add more of those. The MoD Plod had three of their patrol boats circling the carrier to keep visitors from getting too close while the Royal Navy had one of their patrol boats circling as well. While we were cruising round the carrier HMS Duncan appeared in the Solent and shortly after we docked she entered Pompey Harbour. 1. 2. As we passed the bow on our third circuit one of the MoD Plod boat drivers (not this one) was obviously bored and decided to keep station with us for some 150 yards deliberately blocking our view. We weren't impressed. 3. 'Puncher' was also out on patrol. 4. 5. 6. 7. These two were moored up in the harbour too. That's it, thanks for looking.
Modelholic
Are those two moored DDGs showing the right ensigns? It looks like the Spanish ship (outboard of the pair) has a US flag on the port yardarm and the Arleigh Burke1(16) a Spanish ensign on her starboard. Also a tradition when sailors of a ship have to cross over another to go ashore. Edited November 25, 2022 by Robertone139
