Good morning,

I finished the first B17 that I had started and put aside for too long.

This model is the G Hasegawa model. It is very pleasant to build, as it does not have many parts.

I engraved the model, and played with Rosie the riveter.
I replaced the Hasegawa wheels by a Revell wheel casting, and the Cheyenne turret by the G Academy parts.

I chose the decoration proposed by Airfix, because it is unusual to see a B17G with staggered waist guns and cheyenne turret camouflaged.

I decided to paint the Thundermug fully camouflaged, and afterwards I thought I should have removed some mission symbols. No problem, it looks great like this.

The construction log can be seen here:

Enjoy:

Finished the 1/72 Revell Sopwith Camel!   This is the old 1960s era kit, rather crude by todays standards.

First work on this was about 10 years ago, some parts cleanup and a little painting. The model came off the SoD in July ‘22, goal was to complete it by December for our club theme.  Missed that deadline, was headed back to the SoD when I learned about the KUTA…..

Markings are from the kit, but roundels are Toko leftovers from the decal dungeon.   Pilot: Canadian Lloyd Breadner, 3 Sq, RNAS, 1917.

Build is mostly OOB, with a few changes:

- forgot to put the pilot in!

- added some basic rigging using smoke colored nylon thread.

- lowered the height of the top wing by 2mm (fixing one of the biggest errors of the kit)

- offset the ailerons and elevator slightly

1/72 Scratch REO 28-XS.

This is a master that I made for a French craftsman, then I lost the mojo to build the second print, even though all the parts are designed!

Feeling lazy enough to post just one pic per Mersu, and in a single post.

IMG_20221221_185716

MT-201 was the lowest numbered Messerschmitt in our air force, delivered in May 1943. It was also the highest in scoring, with 35,5 victories by several pilots. One of the original aircraft supplied, it was a bread and butter basic G-2 with RLM 74/74/76 camouflage and 1943 type theater markings and insignia. It suffered a takeoff accident 15.7.1944, which ended its war duty but the plane was repaired and written off in 1952!

IMG_20221221_185850

MT-221 was also one of the original aircraft, and the only G-2/trop delivered to Finland, probably by accident. It was damaged in landing accident in June 1943 and repaired by April 1944, when it had received the warpaint of black/green camouflage over RLM 65. It had wheel bulges in its wings. It's luck ran out 25.6.1944 when it went MIA with its pilot for about month, before being found crashed without any visible causes. 8 victories.

IMG_20221221_185920

MT-241 was one of the last replacement G-2:s, delivered in the last day of February 1944. It had the bulged wings and apparently the 1944 type theater markings and insignia.  It was damaged in combat 2.7.1944, which ended its war; it was repaired and wasn't written off until 1953! 11 victories.

Can you spot them on my Finnish model shelf? The Do 17 doesn't fit here anymore. These were Finnish Mersus numbers 11-14.

Thanks for letting me finally Finnish these in this KUTA, Enzo! Happy holidays, V-P :santa:

Good morning,

This is the end of my third project for this Kuta 2022.
This 1/48 Buffalo Tamiya F2A2 is not my best model, but I finished it, and that is important for me.
I can show it to you.
Throwing tomatoes at it will add some colour, right?😁

Hi All

Here is my first finished KUTA for this year

The 1/144 F-RESIN kit OOB

First a breif history of the airframe

The Vickers Viking was derieved from the Wellington bomber retaining the wings with a new fuselage . The intial aircraft had fbric covered wings being replaced by full metal as production continued .

The subject of this build G-AHPS c/n 167 was registered to British European Airways in May 1947 with the name "Verity" . This was changed to "Sir Doveton Sturgee" when the Admiralty class livery (as depicted on the model) was adopted. The aircraft passed to BKS (Northeast) in July 1957  then to Lufthansa as D-ABOM in April 1956 (later reregistered D-BORA returning to the UK in May 1964 as spares for Autair .

Good morning,

This is my last project for this Kuta 2022:
Boeing B17G Flying Fortress 1/72 Airfix, new tool.
It's definitely a nice model, I hope I didn't mess it up too much.
The decals are a KitsWorld reference.

Here's the second lightning from the P-38 GB that didn't make it over the line:

1-E420754-C99-A-425-B-9-F4-D-9-D127-B2-B

414081-B2-8148-4018-BD54-97-DCB95014-D4.

9-DC307-DE-515-B-471-C-8-C5-F-6347798-BB

I think I've got the hang of worn areas now:

B8-F84-AB4-04-A4-4929-BD19-E78-EFDDBB87-

And here it is reunited with its colleague:

43-A2113-C-01-B0-405-F-9194-97-BBD1291-F

"Beautiful Lass" was shipped to New Guinea by boat (hence all the sealing tape residue) whereas "Babe" flew in Tunisia and may have flown across the Atlantic instead of being shipped. I've tried to differentiate the schemes to contrast the weathering effects of tropical rain forest against desert.

The kit is the 1973 Airfix 1/72 P-38F, with decals from Exito. WIP is here if you want to take a look.

Thanks for the GB and the kicking!

Regards,

Adrian

Not really any WIP on this aside from the image in the thread and one or two in another WIP when I started it) as I cracked on with this last week, having just assembled it and painted a test coat of silver in the autumn, seeing Jean's Tamiya mustang gave me the kick to finish it the weekend before last and indeed build another one in the other scheme I was 50/50 on for this.  Kits the New Tool Hasegawa, not sure Ill buy another again, the internal fitted exhausts lost their detail and the canopy did not fit at all well and needed major surgery. Painted with Xtracrylix Silver and Vallejo Medium Blue, Tanks are Humbrol 11. Decals are Tamiya and spares box wing star and bars.
