Hello :)

The time has come to confront one of the legends. RFM model with a few additions: gunbarrel from Aber, PE parts from Voyager and RFM (fenders), headlight from Voyager, tracks from T-Rex and towing cables from Eureka. There will also be decals from Toro.

As of today, the entire bottom is assembled. Not everything turned out as I expected but I am 80% satisfied.

In the photos there is no lamp yet, because the lens from Voyger does not quite satisfy me. I'm still thinking to make this piece without glass with exposed interior.

how were the tracks to assemble and fit?

The parts do not need to be cut or any grinding or correcting of the pin holes with any drill. Out of the box everything is immediately ready to assemble completely without glue like bricks from Denmark. The pins sit very firmly - there is no chance for them to fall out and the individual links are very movable and nothing gets blocked. A very solid product - strong competition for Friul and Masterclub metal links.

That is beautifully built Tom, I really like all the additions that you have made, it really does make a difference. I like the look of the tracks, I have heard of T-rex before, must have a look for future builds. Keep up the good work...

I built a set of their tiger tracks and put a dab of white glue on the end of the pin. More for insurance sake.

With the first track I gave too much by two links and had to subtract them later. The links had to be cut apart because otherwise it was impossible to move those pins. :worry:

Hi Tom,

It looks magnificent with all those additions, one of my favorite tanks, one day I have to get a better kit, because the one I made is an Eastern Express (no more)...and despite everything it was "cool"...lol .

Cheers and TC

First steps with the turret. I reinforced the seam around the turret and made it more irregular than it was in the kit. I also added a bulge for electric traverse. In this way, the turret is prepared for the application of the casting texture.

I added a mold-cut effect on the mantlet and sides of the turret.

I also decided to "improve" the welds around the turret roof. The RFM one (1st pic.) was too perfect for the capabilities of the average Soviet welder. I think the new sloppy one fits this tank better.

I also introduce the driver of this tank.

His main combat task will be to cover the empty interior behind the driver's hatch. ;)

Texture applied, a couple of welds came in, the casting serial numbers were made up, and now the sides of the turret are done. Now all that's left is to finish the turret roof and the mantlet with gun barrell.

Hi Tom,

It looks really nice, with those PEs on the turret. It is a tank that I love, I hope to see it with its layer of paint already worn. One question, what are those two wires that come out in the opposite direction from the back above the circular cover?...

I think it has something to do with connecting additional fuel tanks and tanks with mixture to the smoke curtain. But just to be sure, I will ask my dad when I meet him because he was a T-34 driver in the army.

I'm building a T34/85 at the moment and was wondering the same thing. Fuel lines for the auxiliary tanks or conduit for electrical cables!? I'm intrigued to know what your dad says!
