Not good Fire engine on a call and traffic not halted!

I should add that it now seems to firefighters died in the accident so view any footage at your discretion.  Everyone on the A320 got out.

Tower should have halted all aircraft moves when appliances were committed

It was an exercise. the fire appliance missed a turning on to an under construction taxiway and turned on to active runway.

RIP to all involved and their loved ones.

In a way that makes it even more tragic.

I thought that major airports at least had some form of traffic light system that is intended to minimise the risk of ncursions onto active runways.  Obviously the investigation teams will be looking at this aspect of the accident and I have no intention of commenting or speculating further on it.

RIP the firefighters who died, and sincere condolences to their families, friends and colleagues.  Also thoughts and prayers for the survivors, rescue teams and investigators.
