Viking Spear...1/48 Saab J32B Lansen, Svenska Flygvapnet

Recommended Posts

#24/2022

So, after Harvard and Saab 17, here´s my dad´s third and last Swedish subject for now.
As with all HB/Trumpeter kits the HB Lansen has its shape and accuracy issues but it looks like a Lansen. The only thing my dad did was engraving some missing detail in front of the fin.
The Saab Lansen had its first flight in 1952, the last ones were retired in 1997. The lansen was used as attack, fighter, recon, training, target tug an electronoc warfare aircraft.
With the HB kit you can build a "B" fighter or an "E" ECM aircraft. Funny thing is, HB didn´t add any ordnance for the B but some for the E, HB added decals for the B but not for the E...
Painted in different shades of MRP-215 Swedish Army Olive Drab 325, underside painted with MRP-009 White Aluminium. Moose Republic Decals used, added some seatbelts.

Model shows the last built Lansen which spent most of its life with Försökscentralen (FC), the Swedish Airforce test center.

Certainly one of the best looking Saab 32s I've seen in model form. The modulation of the basic olive green camo is superb.

Btw, it's a good idea to wear something like a nitrile glove when holding a matt surfaced model like that. Otherwise, your fingerprints will eventually be visible on the horisontal stabiliser. 😉

Marvellous modelling!

Kind regards,

Joachim

The Saab 17 Lansen has such clean and elegant lines to it.  A perfect representation here Reini.  :goodjob:

Beautiful model, your dad is extremely talented and it's great to see a Lansen as you hardly ever see them built! I have to say I do love the funny pop-out fuselage airbrakes, they remind me of semaphore indicators on 1930s cars!

Was surprised by the size too, initially thought its about the size of a T-33 or similar.
