Well done with the roundels Ali, they look very good to me. I too have experienced problems with the large underwing serials, it’s very easy to flood the mask with paint and this can lead to all sorts of difficulties. My tactic now is to spray several light layers, gradually building the paint up.

Thanks so much,

I was leaning towards numerous light coats but that picture has convinced me.

I'm in the process of doing that now and will update later.

Cheers,

Alistair

All looks good from here Alistair.

The mishap with the serial numbers should be an easy one to fix.

As @galgos said, several light coats.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

I'm giving that a go as we speak and will take more photos this time.

I'm kind of learning on the job and I will make mistakes but every one of them is a lesson.

Cheers,

Alistair

Thanks Simon,

I'm happy with it so it's on to the other wing and the walkways.

With what little time I have today I decided to get the scary bit done first.

After the 4 light coats.

And then the initial mask lift.

Finally the last bit gingerly lifted out.

Yup that will do. There is a slight clean up needed at the wing rib but I'm happy with that.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Excellent! You've every right to be well chuffed with that result! :)

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Mark,

I know I did some stuff on the Zero but this is the first attempt at proper masking so it's all a learning curve.

It will get easier and better as I progress but as a first attempt I think it's OK.

Bravo Ali, excellent result!

Thanks so much.

Not bad for a first try.

Could be better but each time is a new lesson.

Cheers,

Alistair
