There are some touch ups required and I need to get all of the Blu-Tac out of the wheel wells but I'm fairly happy with that.

Thanks for looking,

The engine was given a wee drybrush and a wash and then fitted.

After all the touch ups were done this happened.

That will be left to dry/cure in preparation for some roundels to be painted.

The TLS over yellow is looking really great, and the addition of the engine and cowling really shows it coming together. Excellent!

Mark

Thanks Mark,

It's getting there.

Thanks Mark,

Well 'ing myself would be closer to the truth.:D

Time for stickers then Alistair?

Looks all OK from here sir.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

I'm going to attempt masking and painting the roundels and the underside codes.

We'll see how it goes.

Alistair

I've masked and painted roundels before, which means that anyone can. When it works, it's immensely satisfying.

Thanks for your confidence.

I'm sure you are being your usual humble self but I will give it my best try.

There are several different ways of using masks, might I point you here for one such.

Thanks I'll need some pointers.

Coming along nicely Alistair, you've managed to get the yellow beautifully even. Very impressed with your Cricut skills - can't wait to see how the painted markings look.

Q

Thanks Q,

The software is easy enough to use it's putting the masks to use that'll be a tad more tricky.

Right here we go.

Thought I'd try the easier ones first.

Masks on

UiyJSEZ.jpg

Followed by a splash of white

Then some ColourCoats Roundel Red.

C1XxJk2.jpg

And, finally some ColourCoats WW2 Roundel Blue/Oxford Blue.

Then the masks came off.

Now, in the interests of transparency.

I was too quick between colours yesterday and some of the red lifted when taking the mask off and in trying to sort that the blue lifted.

The red was allowed to dry overnight and then remasked for the blue which was sprayed this morning, giving the result above.

Lesson learned. I am thinking this may take longer than I thought but it will be worth it.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Fantastic result, I'd say - in the words of one of the decal manufacturers (I forget which!) - "For that painted-on look"! ;) I think you mentioned a Cricut? Which model is it (apols if I've missed that bit)?

Thanks Mark,

It's not the Cricut but the Silhouette Portrait 3.

It's the basic model but will do pretty much everything I need for modelling.

Edit: I've just had a look and Hobyycraft have £30 off for Black Friday.

Put the whole mask back carefully in place then remove the red centre. After that just put any old bit of tape over the red centre then just remove the blue. Done and dusted!

Thanks for that.

It was roughly what I was thinking but using the tape makes more sense.

Cheers,

Alistair
