As magnificent as the 225 is, I would not put any effort or money into it until the war is won. Sad to say, but bullets are more important right now. Russia is probably going to attack that spare fuselage in any case, because that is who they are.

I'm glad to hear that this icon of aviation is going to be back in the skies before too many years.  Hopefully some new avionics & tweaks will make it even better.

Please everyone, keep away from political comments, and discuss the aircraft instead.

Great if true!

Would love to see her fly, and I am sure there is a need for outsized cargo shipping capability!

Is it worth though to start production of  just 1! ONE aircraft?

Sure did bud, the whole article and the whole thread, such as they were.   Building this thing either during or after the war is just a colossal waste of money.   If during the war, they have much better things to be putting the money towards.   If after the war, if they don't feel like donating the money to help reconstruct what's left of that country, they can write a check to the US as a down payment on the billions in weapons we've provided them.

Either way, it's nothing but a PR stunt.

That being just your considered opinion of course, others might think the Mriya is a symbol of a free Ukraine that is worth rebuilding. It is likely it will be commercially funded anyway, so not relying on donated money.  I'm sure the US State dept will be/has been in discussion with Ukraine re repayment for goods supplied, they have some prior form in that respect. <_<

The fleet of aircraft that they have, seems to generate enough revenue to survive. Transporting outsize loads seems to have a niche market.

Just a shame it wasn't flown out along with the other aircraft that departed ... and the senior management of the company... immediately prior to the war.

There will be serious reparations due after the war, so hopefully Uncle Sam may get some return on the support provided.

Watched a documentary some time ago and this plane moves massive amounts of aid into countries hit by natural disasters Haiti is one I remembered. If for no other reason that would be worth rebuilding one. The companies that would work on this aren't likely to be needed for most of the reconstruction but the ability to move large things quickly will always be needed.

The US should consider using boneyard C-5 Galaxys for the same task Puerto Rico for a start...

In an age where we seem to be abandoning technology it would be a marker to do better. Concorde was dumped even though it finally started making money - politicians should be kept away from things they don't understand or that need more than one term to show a return. That applies to many countries.

Call it the 'feelgood' factor, or national promotion item. Always a good idea to have something for people to get inspired by or look up to.
Symbolism is always going to be there.

The Mriya is a national symbol to the Ukrainians. It is a morale booster to say that she will be a Phoenix rising from the ashes so to speak.
