OneDrive image issue

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to update my GB thread but it is not letting me add an image.

I had no problem with adding images to my original post in the thread a few days ago, so it seams a bit odd.

On OnedDrive I select the image, select embed, generate the html, resize the image, highlight the text and copy.

On BM I click on 'insert image from url' then paste the text into the box, but when I click on 'insert into post' the background of the text goes red and I'm stuck there.

I've tried it several times and also tried different images including the ones inserted successfully into the original post.

I don't know if this is an issue with BM, OneDrive or me!?

Can anyone help?

Sorry don't agree. The fact that there are a number of us having the same issue suggests that the problem may lie with OneDrive. When generating the embedding HTML coding, something looks different, not quite sure what, but something is subtly different. I can't say what, as I'm not an expert in HTML coding, but something is different to how it used to look. It may also be the recent forum update does not like the new embedding HTML coding. I don't know, but for myself, and the others that have posted here it is currently not allowing us to insert any pictures.

The coding does look different.

On alt-92's post it starts with the usual https and it looks more familiar, but for me the code is:

<iframe src="https://onedrive.live.com/embed?resid=EE40D8BE785E7E5E%21523&authkey=!ADXvpY8fjcDdz_A" width="4032" height="3024" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" />

So the general code layout is different, and a lot shorter.

Not sure if that makes any difference?

Nothing has changed this end for some weeks, although there is an admin-related update pending, so my best guess is that it's them.  Also, I'm sure that iframe is heading toward being unwelcome on most sites.  I could be totally wrong, just a vague remembering from somewhere. :hmmm:

That's the same coding I'm getting; and when copied into the "insert image from URL" box, nothing then happens as the coding is not recognised as being correct. This "shortened" HTML coding seems to be incorrect and is what is making the difference. Not sure why and if anything can be done to correct it.

@Mike for some reason this seems to have only just happened with OneDrive - it did not used to use this encoding. I appreciate that it's not the forum that has caused the issue. the problem seems to be with Microsoft/OneDrive and something that they have done fairly recently and with a possible subset of users.

Comparing the code of an image I posted on 30/10, it has changed.

On BM it starts with http, but on OneDrive it now generates a code starting iframe, so looks like something's changed in the last week.

Have you got the "Include HTML tags" box checked? If so, try unchecking it.

Don't know about anyone else's OneDrive, but mine is not showing that option!

I have seen it on occasion, but usually that UI bug disappears again after some time.
Cloud eh?

It seems to me to be missing an 'iframe' end, such as '/iframe>' .

In all honesty I'd recommend staying well clear of OneDrive.  Too unreliable, too poorly implemented, too "Microsoft".  For image posting go with the sites recommended by this site's admins.  I use imgbox which is simple, slick and reliable as well as being free.  Other members  recommend other hosting services but I have no experience of them and therefore cannot comment.

Something is going with BM.  I am trying to create a new post and where I have been successful in a prior post to insert an image using a URL link, now nothing happens except the area to paste the link turns pink.  I have tried this using Shutterfly as the host and MS OneDrive.  Same result.

Going to try right here ...

Just tried it ... no can do.

Same result using Flickr

Tried using this link ... https://www.flickr.com/photos/197325269@N05/shares/7d21q7u274

But it does not work to insert image from that URL.

s-l1600.jpg

Trying to insert a simple image from an established web site.  For example, ebay.  I just copy the image link into the text field

s-l1600.jpg

And the image just pops right in.  Don't even have to use the "Insert image from URL" button.  But that also works.

So what gives what trying to use a link from a photo storage website.  And why does this insert image from ebay work ok but not from every website?
