Seamus
Morning all, Another completion hot off the bench this week is this Kate from Airfix. A tidy little kit, with no real fit issues to speak of, and sufficient detail to keep the model interesting. The kit came from the old dogfight double boxing (the Wildcat was built years ago) but I wanted to finish it in a slightly more interesting scheme than the one on offer, so I've used a Hasegawa kit as guide to finish it in something a little more complicated so I could give my airbrush skills a bit of a run out. The tail codes and handful of stencils came from the Hasegawa kit, otherwise all markings are painted on. I've used a variety of paint brands to finish her- Alclad aluminium and dull aluminium for the bare metal and control surfaces, respectively, AK Real Colour for the interior and mottles, Mr Color for the hinomarus and torpedo, Tamiya for the tail bands and tyres and Hataka Orange Line for the black nose and final flat coat. The eagle eyed amongst will notice the fuselage windows are still masked, this has subsequently been removed! Thanks for looking, comments welcomed as always Shaun
Hairy Stickler
Lovely job Shaun with some impressive brush work. I think that (having recently watched Pearl Harbour) I will give this kit a go next year. Thanks for sharing Peter

georgeusa
Well, your airbrushing skills are just fine. Love the scheme you used. I've botched a bare metal finish on one of my Japanese aircraft, I may hide it with this type of paint scheme. Thank you for sharing.
