I’m hopeful I can join in with this.

It is however considerably more than 25% started though. Really just needing finished off.

These are the parts still to go on, but the canopy isn’t in the box, though I think I know where it might be.

IIf my reading of the rules is right I can complete it with a WIP in the GB but it shouldn’t go in the gallery but into the inspiration gallery instead. If I’m wrong let me know and I’ll stop. Though if permitted it will give me the impetus to finish it. If I can find the canopy of course.

Of course you may finish it, my only ask is that it goes into the inspiration gallery as its almost complete.

BTW I love that scheme and plan on doing a meteor in it someday.

Thanks, I’ll make sure it goes in the right place. The Navy T7s did have some nice liveries. Mind you this was chosen as it was the set available on the aftermarket decal sheet. I’ll check out what it was once I’m underway. Or underway again.

Canopy found and was already dipped in Kleer. There’s a mask set in the kit as well so that’s a plus.

Finished assembling the undercarriage, though getting the mudguards onto already assembled and fixed legs and wheels was a real challenge. You can’t really see but I’ve cleaned the cockpits up and fixed in the front IP which I had previously omitted. The canopy is masked up but I forgot to take a photo, but it’ll appear soon. I want to give the IPs a dry brush and see if I can lift a little detail.

Canopy on, using the masks from the kit.

and now with some paint on, Matt black to start with and I’ll add some gloss black once I’m happy.

I had the same set of masks, mine sprang up constantly. Good thing it was just one color over my canopy as well.

There not great on the curves. Fine on the flat panels. I’m not a fan of vinyl masks but they did come with the kit. I’ve another coat of gloss black to go on and then we’ll reveal how good they’ve been.

Masks off, and they’ve performed well apart from a rather irritating property of leaving some of the adhesive on the plastic. Which is proving a little resistant to coming off. Working on it slowly but surely. The undercarriage doors are all on as well as most of the aerials and the jet pipes.

Looks like almost done but I’ve come up again ask a problem. The front undercarriage door (and the underwing tanks) need to painted ina dayglo red. I can’t find the bottle of I originally used. It wasn’t a mainstream product, I think I found it in a DIY store. It doesn’t match any of the reds I’ve managed to dig out so far. A search of the murkier parts of the stash is needed.

Looks great. Believe it or not mayonnaise is the best thing for removing adhesive residue I kid you not.

Thanks, I’ll give it a go.

My wife uses butter- probably a similar principle.  It sometimes takes a little patience, but works well.

Thanks for the tip, I haven’t yet tried either, I thought I’d wait a bit till I’d finished the painting.

After an extensive stash search I still haven’t found the original dayglo colour. I did find this little pot and it’s not far off. It’s Revell but I’ve no idea how I came about it

It’s a reasonable match for the undercarriage door and the slight difference will be masked to an extent by the number transfer that’ll be applied. I’m not so sure for a larger part like the drop tanks, it may be a little too red but a tiny bit of white or orange added to the final coat may do the trick but I’ll wait and see when the tanks are fully covered.

Not really much to go now.

Drop tanks painted up and now on. There is a slight difference in shade but it’s not terribly noticeable and it’ll do.

Final transfer added to the nose wheel door and this Meteor is finished. I’ll take some more photos and get it into the gallery soon.
