Updated! Eduard 1/72 Avia S-199 + engine + workshop

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just getting back to modelling as I’ve recently moved house and got my new workshop up and running (I’ve added a few pics 😀). I’ve so missed having a modelling space!

I saw Brett’s review of the Brassin engine for this on Hyperscale and was so taken with the detail I had to order one and the associated Eduard S-199 - not a kit I would naturally be drawn to. The Brassin set is nothing short of spectacular in this scale, I’m not sure it’s turned out exactly how I wanted it. I’d be tempted to build another (maybe the two seat trainer?). I’m never happy at the end of a model! It does require a little surgery of the fuselage and cockpit, but not too bad.

Anyway, here she is…

Well done. You have a professional workshop.

Very nice 199.  And a tidy, very well equipped & well stocked modeling center.   For my own sanity and self-worth, please tell me you had to clean your workspaces for an hour before you could take this picture.  It is so neat and tidy and without a huge shelf of doom looking down upon you every time you sit in your chair.

Good job on the engine and making it look so realistic.  I've seen more than one high quality resin enhancement kit go by the wayside because of fit problems or inadequate painting and finishing.  Your's is great.  Thanks for sharing.

Ah thanks guys, yep I put quite a bit of effort on the workshop - the benches were in situ but it’s had the walls dug out of loose mortar, sealed and painted, ceiling put in, coving, new floor, skirting, extractor fan, new windows & new sealed garage door - but apart from that, as it was 😆

Thanks, yes, it was taken in between builds to be fair!

Yep, despite how lovely the engine is, I can see how it’s easy to cock up! If you’re building one, I’d recommend fitting prior to painting, the small cowling directly ahead of the windscreen took a fair bit of fettling to fit.

I had to double check wether you had made a mistake in the title and it wasn't 1/48 or larger. That work gone into fitting the engine is exceptional and the engine itself is spectacular.

Fantastic work.

Wow!  An awesome build!

The resin additions are so brilliantly done, I could be forgiven for thinking it is 1/48 or 1/32 scale! 👏👏

How I envy you for that workshop space too!

I must show it to my Missus, to illustrate what I aspire to. 😃
