I’ll be joining in with this classic armoured car. I’ve already built one earlier this year so know the pitfalls.

There are two large and two small sprues in a nicely moulded grey plastic. A lot of small parts but should build up into a nice replica.

Fairly straightforward instructions.

Transfers and colour call outs for three cars, two in the Caunter Scheme. Glutton for punishment, that’s what I’ll be go8ng for. I see a lot of masking tape in my future.

Definitely the better option, but not helped by the generous assortment of rivets!  Enjoy the build :thumbsup2:

First task is to get a couple of coats of Portland Stone on to the majority of the plastic, so as not to have those little bits of unpainted plastic in inaccessible places. Though there’s a lot of flash and seam lines so I suspect most will be lost while cleaning up. There’s a lot of detail but overall it’s not the best moulded kit I’ve seen and a load of cleaning up required. There’s also a broken bit on the strengthening rod on one of the chassis sides.

I found it fairly straightforward  to build, apart from the masking!

TBH the worst bit was mixing up Caunter scheme colours from Starmer suggested Tamiya mixes.  Which to me ended up virtually identical to out of the bottle buff/sky/OD! 🤣

I’ve started to cut plastic and the first challenge is the strengthening bar on one of the chassis sides is broken (and short), as well as the support for the rear axle is short moulded. I’ve added layers of plastic strip and will let them dry thoroughly before attacking it with sandpaper and a scalpel.

In the meantime I have been assembling the sub assemblies.

Hopefully this will suffice, it’s not a perfect match but it should be functional and will be hidden behind the wheel.

Looks nice Malpaso, and a lovely job on the Caunter scheme. I won’t be mixing the paints as I have a Lifecolour set which looks not too bad. Though I thought Sky and Dark Slate Grey would’ve done the job.

The kit does build up into a nice looking model, I’ve previously built the standard version, which differs only in wheels and some turret details and it turned out fine.

And some work on the kit, chassis built and much of the bodywork.

The spring ‘fix’ looks OK

All the sub assemblies fitted together, took a bit of fiddling, but now looks like an armoured car.

Sorry @diablo rsv you could try that.

Most of the body and turret parts on and a base layer of Portland Stone applied. I’ll give it a once over and top up the Portland Stone before the somewhat tedious job of masking for the Caunter scheme. I’ve done it before for a Marion Harrington but this looks less complex. However 5heres more sticky out bits on the Rolls Royce. Thin strips of Tamika tape and patience will have to be the watchword.

Sorry 825, there's so much good stuff posted properly on here that I default to not bothering to follow links. Who knows where they might lead? Rick Astley perhaps!

This has been sitting to the side partly as I’ve been working on a trio of Meteors for another GB. But the main reason was I wasn’t relishing masking up for the Caunter finish. However, I’ve now gone for it and masked up for the first coat of Silver Grey. First coat on and surprisingly there’s not much difference between it and the Portland Stone. Another coat to add before the Slate is masked for.

Silver grey on and then masked up for the Slate. It took a fair amount of time to mask for the final colour due to the complexity of the scheme and the small size of the vehicle.

Another coat should be sufficient, then then there’s some Portland Stone to add in.

I’ve been a bit busy over the past weeks and also suffered a bit of of a mojo failure, so I haven’t done anything for a while. Yesterday I decided it was time to try and get this one over the line so a bit of work was done.

Masking removed and the paint looks OK.

Although a bit more work was required on the rear

and some more detailed added. I’ve also cleaned up a fair amount of detail parts to add once the painting touching up has been done.

Finished, hopefully I’ll get a few minutes before the end of the day to take a couple of better photos for the gallery.

Given a bit more time, I would have matted the paint down, glazed the headlamps and dry brushed some weathering on. But it’s finished, so that’s where we want to be.
