Painting checkers on mustang noses???

If you want do do it quick and simple:

 

Paint the front with white or yellow over the NMF. Mask it off.

Cut plenty of little sqares aprox. 3x3mm (in 1/48), roughly the same size.

Place these little masks in the right position and spray the darker colour. Done.

 

It is not perfect but will look OK in 1/48:

Especially in the 3rd photo you see the imperfections. But for me thats OK.

What about the small square decals applied on the lighter color area, instead of masking and painting? The softening solution makes decals really following the curves...

This would be my choice if needed. (Never done yet)
