dalea
This may be a dumb question but what is the best (easiest) means of opening up the various air intakes in the wings of these oldies? Memory suggests three per engine.
vppelt68
If you're not after a silk purse out of this pigs' ear, the easy route is to chain drill along the recesses in lower wing half leading edges and then clean the openings to shape and size. Boxing the openings is the second level, if you wish. Good luck with your build! Oh, by the way, we will most likely have a B-17 group build next autumn . Moggy
Pig's ear? What's wrong with this kit? Cheers, Moggy

I just personally don't like the things/details in which it falls short mostly (excess wing dihedral, solid leading edge intakes, no wingtip vents, no 3-panel waist windows for the unstaggered variant and wheels with hubcaps only). Some of them are just too difficult to fix or require aftermarket parts. On the other hand, I like the fuselage very much. Combining its fuselage with Hasegawa wings and some Revell spare parts would actually result in best B-17G kit in 1:72 scale V-P
Steve N
Don't forget, in addition to the large rectangular intakes (for the turbosuperchargers) there are also small square intakes between the engines for the oil coolers. You'll also need to sand off the little blob on the underside of the outboard nacelles just behind the engines. This is supposed to represent the external oil cooler intake only seen on the B/C/D models. SN
