1/48 Airfix Canadair Sabre - Golden Hawks

Recommended Posts

This is my latest finished model, a 1/48 Canadair Sabre build from the Airfix kit with Leading Edge decals to represent an aircraft used by the Golden Hawks display team, built for the Canadian GB. It’s more of a “tribute” than authentic, as I used the paint scheme for the later Mk 6 aircraft on the earlier kit.

Aftermarket was limited to Eduard PE seatbelts and Eduard resin wheels. All of the metallic paints are Alclad, with Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics for the rest. As it’s representing a display aircraft, I’ve kept the weathering pretty light, with a bit of wear in the cockpit, some dirt on the tyres, and a light wash in the gear bays more to bring out details than anything else.
