This is my 1/72 scale Pegasus Hobbies kit of the Russian BA-6 Armoured car. Armed with a 45mm gun in a turret similar to that used on the T-26B tank it is one of a series of fairly similar 6 x 4 armoured cars built on a commercial lorry chassis - initially Ford but in this case a licence built Russian version known as the GAZ AAA. Developed from the BA-1 it was virtually identical to the BA-3 and was followed by the slightly improved BA-10. The Russians used a lot of armoured cars between the wars but were switching to light tanks by 1940.

Like all the Pegasus Hobbies kits I have built it is pretty simple - 20 parts in total, most of which are designed to clip together though I have glued them. Construction is minimal and the fit generally good though I had to enlarge the holes in the wheels slightly to go over the axles. I have painted it in the basic overall Xtracolour "Russian WWII tank green". If I get round to building the second kit in the box I will probably go for a winter finish, or maybe a two tone pre-war camo. Looking at the above pic I have noticed that I need to paint the tail light red!

And here is the second of my "easy builds" - the Airfix ex JB Models Alvis FV601C Saracen.

I suspect the markings are for the Gurkhas in Malaya and looking at the above pic I think I have put their crossed Kukri badge on upside down - it is very small and my eyesight is not brilliant! A vehicle with the same registration number is now at Cosford with no unit badges and in NATO green/black.

A simple and quite well detailed kit tough the instructions could be better.

Here's my White Scout car, Free French, 1944.  It's seen some action and is heavily loaded courtesy of Black Dog Resin.  I highly recommend this kit.  Excellent detail, went together with no issues.  One thing to keep in mind, the instructions are unclear as to where to attach the rear leaf springs.  If they are attached where it seems correct, the rear end is jacked up like a hot rod.  I had to perform corrective surgery at the last minute to make it sit properly.  Other than that, no complaints.

WiP is here...

And finally (for me) the Roden Sd. Kfz 232 (Fu) (8Rad).

DSC07193-crop DSC07191-crop

A bit more complicated than the two Fujimi kits, but having built their Sd. Kfz 231 (8 Rad) previously I was aware of the difficulties with the "undercarriage" and made a better job of it this time.

A short and enjoyable break from building planes, so thanks to Robert and happy building to the rest of you.

Cheers

Here's my little Adler scout vehicle from 1939.  And the new base!  I think they both came out rather well.

The WiP for the Adler is here...

Humber Armoured Car

Original kit: Tamiya 1/48

Here is my rendition of the excellent Tamiya Hmber Mk IV Armoured car.

This was built in a day for the IPMS Salisbury Flash Mod last weekend. I finished it in the day but since have added a bit more dust using Pro Modeller weathering wash whch worked well on the wheels. I also added a radio aerial from nickel silver wire.  To mix things up I finished it in a desert scheme

A great little kit.

Build thread is here

Not my normal cup of tea to build so quickly but just for fun with a very simple kit this was very enjoyable..

Thanks to @Robert Stuart and @Enzo the Magnificent for the idea and the mod input

Here's my most recent.  The Polish C4P (FIAT) halftrack truck and its Schneider French 75mm in tow. In truth, two different kits, but this is what the FIAT was for, really: a gun tractor.

The WiP is here.  I highly recommend these kits to anyone into 72nd scale vehicles.  Superb moulding, excellent fit.  A finely engineered kit(s).

Here's my latest and I think I just kept going until I couldn't go no more...aftermarket pieces...not-quite-OOB-but-OOB...figures of DAK guys...and a desert scheme base I worked on over at another part of the forum.  I have to stop sometime and the time is now.

Here's the WiP...

And here are the pictures.  Aftermarket goods from Petr at Black Dog.  Decals from an ICM Sd.Kfz. 222...Figures are Panzer drivers from Orion painted up in DAK uniforms.  They look just fine.  That's real sand and rocks from right here in Greece.  Not so far from Libya.  As the crow flies, I am only 563 km NNE of Tobruk...

Thanks Mods.  Jeez...I have until I turn 58 to keep at this GB.  Mindboggling.  I might have to move into 1/35th for the next one.

Beaverette Mk.III
Airfield Defence Vehicle

This is Flightpath's 1/48 Beaverette Mk.III Airfield Defence Vehicle. This is an all metal kit, including relatively thick PE and cast metal parts. A completely fictional chassis loosely based on photos of a contemporaneous Standard chassis replaced the simple pan provided with the kit. Archer Fine Transers' resin rivets, Dzus fasteners, and weld lines adorn the surface. Mr.Metal Primer and Mr.Sufacer provided a paintable surface for Mr.Color Flat Black and Dark Earth.  Alclad Steel was used on the barrel. Spare decals from Tamiya's 1/48 Tilly provided the small bit of markings.

Here's my Polish "Ford Model-T" conversion.  A very nice kit and not so hard to make.  Lovely camo option, imho. Weathered with Vallejo Rusts, Oil Stains and European Dust.  Then I used some black/brown oil pin washing for here and there.  Not too much I think.

This is my final finished build of 2022.  Pretty happy about that.

WiP is here...

Airfix M3 White Halftrack and Trailer. Built straight OOB and brush painted with Xtracrylix Olive Drab matted down with Liquitex matt varnish. Finished with only transfers in the box, a vehicle of the US Army in NW Europe in 1944. A bit of nostalgia as I did build one of these in the original Airfix plastic bag many moons ago.
