Armoured cars and half tracks Inspiration Gallery

Recommended Posts

I've done three A/C's to date. The first was a RR Silver Ghost A/C, and because of the problem with Village Photos, I can only supply a link to the photos;

The other two are very similar to each other as they are Israeli Improvised Armoured Cars, all based on the M3 White Scout Car.

The first is a Type 1;

......and the second is a Type 4;

See, I said they were similar!

Good day,

This is a scratch built 1/35 scale Poplavko Jeffery armoured car circa The Great War.  Still not finished; patiently waiting for some proper wheels, a few other small details and paint:

Something more recent that built for the most recent Blitz Build Group Build. A scratch built 1/35 scale 1915 Tracteur Blinde Filtz :

I am looking forward to this, soon to start, Armoured Car and Half Track Group build.

cheers, Graham

Here are a few I built earlier!😆

Allied

DSC07069-crop

From left to right Merlin white metal R-R 1920 Pattern, Matchbox Humber Mk II, Matchbox Daimler "Dingo", Millicast Daimler Mk II and Staghound and what I believe is an Italeri M8 Greyhound. The Matchbox and Millicast kits are 1/76 supposedly whilst the Merlin and Italeri are 1/72.

German

DSC07073-crop

A couple of Fujimi Sd.Kfz 222, a Matchbox 232 (6 Rad), Roden 232 (8Rad) and a Matchbox 234/2 Puma. I did build the Airfix "8 Wheel Armoured Car" but it is long gone and my replacement Matchbox conversion is back in the workshop at the moment. All these are 1/76.

Many decades ago, I built Tamiya's Sd.Kfz. 232-8 Rad.  Copying some photos in the Panzer Colours book of various vehicles diverted from the Balkans to bolster the Italian Army in North Africa, they arrived painted in panzer grey, without any sand coloured paint in which to camouflage them the crew made up bowls of mud and daubed that over the vehicle.  Back then I was using the only paint available to me, Humbrol, so I sprayed it panzer grey then using some unstirred sand paint I brushed on the thick gloop from the bottom of the tin to represent the mud.

Perhaps I should add some stowage.

This is fun, here are 20 years of the armoured cars I've built, all very dusty from sitting on the shelf. All 1/35 except for the anti-aircraft staghound which is 1/48. The C15TA and the Humber scout car were scratchbuilt.
