What makes me a happy bunny?

  • getting back to the modelling bench after nearly 6 months due to lack of mojo.... This months club theme is Animals... So, in the middle of building this years Airfix Club kit, 1/72 Hawk First & Last! Nice simple easy little kit (except for the dozens of tiny, tiny... did I say TINY little decals that go on the ETPS version!) 😀
  • Getting a £200 refund back from the energy company and reducing payments as they realise that our payments are too high, with nearly £400 credit in our energy account. We emailed them to challenge them as to why they tried to put up our bill, with this amount of credit, and not only did they back down and not put up our monthly DD but suggested that we have some of our money back and reduce our DD as well😇
  • Placing an order with Hannants to be collected at SMW which means that I will certainly have to go to the show this year.... 2 nights' accommodation already booked in Premier Inn at Stafford North for the Saturday & Sunday nights, so making a weekend of it with the wife.

All told very happy bunny at the moment!

(If anyone on BM has a credit balance with their energy supplier, and they are trying to put their bills up - even taking into account the Governments £400 grant, I would strongly recommend challenging them. We did and they have not put up our bills as they wanted to, they have reduced them, and we are getting a credit back as well. Better in our bank account then theirs. If you are paying by Direct Debit, and in Credit, they do not have the automatic right to put up your bill, we give them monthly meter readings, so they have accurate billing information and do not have the need to estimate, this runs in our favour.  For the next few months we have managed to reduce our monthly duel fuel bill - including the energy grant - down to about £120 per month! I have to admit this was on the recommendation of Martin Lewis so on this occasion something he suggested worked!)

What makes me happy?

Listening to a small child laugh.

Hearing my cat purr on my knee.

My very large son hugging me and saying 'I love you dad'.

My wife holding me when my head don't want to work properly.

Having breakfast on Saturdays with the group of Veterans we support.

The smell of a new book.

Now I think of it, there are quite a few things to smile about eh?

Have a fine day,

Regards,

Pete

A little hole in the wall small town bar about 2 hrs north which also means some kayaking on one of the most scenic rivers (if not the most) in Michigan.  I could do that every weekend in the summer.............and I've come close.

Also big snow storms, like an inch or two an hour.  Then it's time to go driving and not slowly.  Sadly we don't get those to often anymore in SW Michigan.   Winters have kinda become lame here.

Sipping a good old wheated bourbon.   But the next day doesn't usually make me happy. 🤣

Game nights when my kids (both adults now) are involved, which is tougher now that one has moved many many hours away.

Anytime between 4pm on Friday and 8am on Monday.   Means I'm not at the office............Come on Fridays!

Sitting at Euston station knowing I will be home in 4 hours…

I know it makes you feel happy, but it makes me sad that you have to travel so far for work.

Home is where the heart is, they say. Hope yours is a warm and special place.

Regards,

Pete

Thanks Pete!

This was actually a short, fairly local job - I’m often overseas for a week or two at a time - but I’ll still be glad to be home!

And not having to deal with antipatico bureaucrats who administer pensions for at least another week; life's too short.

I fell in love with the carving of the otters swimming.  Oh for skills like that.  Spoken as a mere plastic butcher.

Oh wow! And they've only just acknowledged him as a Master!

What you wouldn't give for a small portion of skills like that?

Regards,

Pete

Not sure if this should be filed under "What Makes You Happy?" or simply "What Made You Smile?"

Dropped into my local supermarket today and noticed a small child standing next to an animated advertising sign whilst waiting for her mother who was doing battle with a somewhat stubborn shopping trolly when the sign displayed an advertisement for a well known brand of battery promoted by a rabbit; picture her delight when the small child sized cartoon rabbit then performed an animated dance just for her.  When the commercial ended, said small child banged on the sign before peering behind it with some bewilderment and demanded "come back bunny, come back!"

@Richard E Something akin to that happened to me about a month or so ago!

I was walking back from the local school where we have our Church meetings one Sunday morning (I literally live 200m away from the school!) I was just about coming to our house when a father walked past with his very young, probably no more than 3 year old, son trailing behind on his scooter. All of a sudden the child stopped, looked at me and raised his hand! Young lad wanted me to give him a high 5!

It was just such a sweet little act from an innocent little child! The childs' father had heard me say hello, and "oh, do you want a high 5?" when he raised his little hand up in the air, and even he laughed when he saw what was happening. I have to admit it brought a massive grin to my face and a lot of joy. My wife was still socialising at church and so didn't see this. When I told her what had happened a little later on, even she found it amusing and so sweet.

(Even writing this now has brought a huge grin to my face remembering about it!!!😄)
