alt-92
To prove there ARE still things around that can make you happy Ridiculously happy to have my own home-made jam. 1) Fig tree in the back garden, good for at least 10 Kg of figs per year. This time, I made fig jam and spread the love around to neighbours and co-workers. Ready for shipping! To finish off the jelly sugar pack, some fruit jam - blueberry, raspberry, blackberry & strawberry: Next up: something with apples...

The folk museum at which I volunteer has just held an apple juicing event using the many varieties of apples growing in its superb orchard. I scrumped a couple of Jupiters and a Lane's Prince Albert (I think) cooker while they were still on the tree and have planted some pips in tubs; with luck they'll 'take' and I'll be able to transfer them into my garden for future culinary enjoyment! Mark Harmsworth
Being greeted by my dog when I come home. She either almost opens one eye and then goes back to sleep or charges round the place at full gallop - I stand and watch that until she's finished hoping nothing gets knocked over (she weighs 43kg).

Mark Harmsworth
Sausages. Yes, yes. And mustard - both in the mash and a dollop on the plate - but be careful it dosen't get washed away by the gravy. What a worry. Life can be complicated. 3

Or rather, you were until they interrupted it! What makes me happy? The Mute button on the remote, so I don't have to listen to commercial breaks. How many people really need a new mattress anyway? Oh, and modelling time. even if it's just for an hour at the weekend. Bliss.

Bullbasket
Actually, I have. A few weeks ago, our Humax box decided that we no longer had any programs recorded (even though the memory was nearly 50% full). Apparently, this is a common fault with Humax boxes. So we were forced to watch "live" programs. My God! I never knew how banal some of the adverts can be. What's with all this tap dancing all over the keyboard of laptops to sell your car??? I won't go any further as that would defeat the whole point of this thread. Suffice it to say that what made me happy was the Humax decided that we did have programs recorded after all. Whew!! I took a hammer to my TV when the last of the kids left home 12 years back. I gained time, freedom from worry about things I could not change, reduced manipulation by advertisers and pundits, and lost nothing at all.
