SuperSpitfire, Airfix FR Mk. XIVe

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I have just finished this one, it was part of an unofficial GB started by @mark.au with a few others joining too.

The kit is lovely although I had a few fit problems , that were my own making.

I have added the hydraulic lines from the undercarriage selector lever, and some Eduard belts and round exhausts. I added some details to the rear wheel u/c doors.

The model was brushpainted using Humbrol enamels. I really enjoyed this one and have a couple more in the stash.

The model is the kit option Lazy Lady V /NH902 and the spinner was painted red instead of yellow after seeing some build articles on t'internet. The kit decals went on very well.  Some light chipping as applied with a silver pencil and the exhaust staining and dirt were applied using Humbrol weathering powders.

Here's a link to the build

Thanks to those who supported and encouraged me along the way.

Hope you like

Chris,

Lovely finish and a most worthy addition to the unofficial GB. That was fun - we should do another!

😄  Tony, it's not as hard as you think, honest,  I just thin the paint slightly and get a smoother finish.  It takes a few coats of each colour, but it's worth the effort.   The camouflage demarcation lines are done using the darker colour unthinned to get the edge only do a small area at a time, and whilst it starts to dry off you then move the brush back and forth along the line and fade the edge to make a soft demarcation line, takes a bit of practice but all good fun.

Hope this helps.

Hi CC

It's not progressed to far at the moment due to the Spitfire and Swordfish builds, but it's the Gee Bee Z  in the PRRS mega Group Build on at the moment.

That's a cracking result; it shows what can be achieved with a brush, some patience and more than a little skill.

Thanks JRK, very kind of you.

An excellent job!  You really brought that model to life and, importantly, built it out of the box!  Bravo!
