canberraman
Before some of you get too excited this photo selection is not about English Electric's finest, but instead the RAF F-35B Lightning II (Oh to have had a digital camera when the former was in service! ) Last week I seized the opportunity to take a flight on RAF Voyager KC.3 ZZ334 to shoot some F-35Bs from both 207 Sqn and 617 Sqn that were tanking in UK AARAs 7 and 6 over the North Sea. It's still rather disappointing that the type has yet to receive squadron markings in RAF service, but hopefully these images may be of use or interest to anyone planning to build a scale model of the F-35B. On with the show. I hope these images are of interest. Thanks for looking, c&c always welcome. Mark 28

Mr T
Thanks Mark, really good photos. A consolation of the lack of squadron markings is, that would they would only be in grey!
stevehnz
Those are some super shots Mark, & yes, they will be very much appreciated come the day I get one of the new Academy -Bs & someone does some RAF decals for it. Steve.
upnorth
Those are gorgeous shots! (Even though I prefer the looks of the A model over the B and C when it comes to the F-35)

Vulcanicity
Funny, I had always assumed the lightning flash on the fin was a resurrection of the 617 tail marking from Vulcan days, but from your post it seems it's on all of the F-35s in RAF service? Cracking shots by the way 👍

John R
Could you not have persuaded them to provide you with some topside shots? John (Currently a bright shade of green!) 1

John (Currently a bright shade of green!) Hi John, These two extras are about the best I can find. What is interesting from a modelling point of view is the difference in appearance between the earlier RAF deliveries and the later ones. Aircraft coded 027 has a much more unified and smooth topside finish than 010 which still has many more anti reflective radar patches applied. Thanks everyone for the comments and likes, much appreciated! Mark Edited October 15, 2022 by canberraman error noted 6

DaveJL
Great shots! Interesting to see some jets with very prominent RAM panel colouring, others in all over monotone grey. Useful for my builds. Thanks for posting!

JohnT
Great photos and thanks for taking the time to share with us. Really appreciated and not at all envious Well a bit They should resurrect 111Sqn as they wouldn’t need to do a paint job for the markings
geedubelyer
Lovely photos. Interesting to see the aircraft with wing pylons. I can't imagine that being very stealthy?🤔
