SprueMan
Hi folks! What sort of green was used by the Albatros and Fokker workshops to paint their aircraft? I am thinking of Albatros D.V and C.III and Fokker D.VII (Fokker built) If a close enough approximation exists in Tamiya AS or TS range, then so much the better
TallBlondJohn
AK do a WW1 German Dark Green (AK11803) which they equivalent to Vallejo 71017 and nothing else I'm afraid. Fokker almost certainly had their own suppliers. I'm sure there would have been colour standards but a lot of variation, especially late war. I happen to have an Eduard Albatros DV on the desk - well two in fact - and Eduard call out Mr Hobby H302 which AK matches to XF-26 which seems reasonable. I'd just go by eye. Phil Evans
The instructions for the Albatros D.v and Fokker D.VII are still on the Wingnut Wings site and will have Tamiya paints listed.
SprueMan
Thanks! I found the Fokker green, that sounds believable: XF-61 The Albatros greens, were, as it was to be expected; all over the place with the super colorful planes of that era. TallBlondJohn
WNW say Tamiya XF71 for Albatros "Medium Grey Green" (Humbrol 78) on wings and X28 (Humbrol 208) for "Green - gloss" on Jasta 5 tails. Have to say H208 would be far too bright for my taste, I'm planning to use H101 for more scale effect (my DVs are 1/72)
