Here we are several coats of yellow later. It needs to dry before masking anyway, but I’ll wait to see in daylight what the coverage looks like.

Masked up and first coat of Signal Red on. Looks rubbish but will improve after a few more thin coats.

The red finished and unmasked. There’s a bit of cleaning up to do, and I’m not 100% happy with the rear of the nacelles as their not quite the same. Some work with a sharp scalpel, fine paint brush and polishing stick is needed.

and here we are cleaned up.

After taking the photo, I now see a couple of more bits to fix before I start transfers.

That's a smart colourscheme

It is isn’t it. Bright and very striking. Here we are with the canopy unmasked and the wing tip pods on.

Main assembly and painting done, now time to get the transfers on. Unfortunately, there’s a bit of a flaw on one of the underwing serials I plan to use. Thankfully there are a few spare ‘W’s I can use

Transfers on the upper surfaces. I’ll let them dry and do the undersides tomorrow. Certainly bringing the airframe to life.

Pictures I can find, although I haven’t found any of WF716, show the undercarriage legs and mudguards in red. If anyone has any information I’d be grateful.

Undercarriage on, I’ve decided to paint it red as all the photos of U16s suggest that’s the case. There’s some touching up needed. The exhaust rings and pitot also added.

And it stands on its three wheels.

A bit to go to finish, mainly adding the undercarriage doors and aerials.

Getting closer to the end. However, a bit of a challenge. When fitting the retraction jacks one flew off the tweezers and got lost for ever. I’ve fabricated a replacement from plastic rod and card. Not perfect but will do.

It's coming along well. The scratched retraction strut more than passes muster

James

Thanks James, once a coat of aluminium paint was on it was difficult to see the scratched one.

All the remaining bits stuck on and we are now finished.
