Hellcat Mk.I , 1/72, Eduard

Hello fellow modelers, 

here is the result from our local group build. Some in progress photos you can find HERE

 

It is the Hellcat Mk.I, JV132, 800. squadron FAA from HMS Emperor flown by Lt. B. Ritchie who claimed in May 1944 a FW-190 and later more Luftwaffe planes.

An excellent Hellcat and a great tribute to a brave pilot of the FAA. While flying a Sea Hurricane defending HMS Indomitable during Operation Pedestal on August 12 1942 Lt. B. Ritchie downed three Ju 87 Stukas. As mentioned above his final victories were also scored in the very same Hellcat against two He 115 floatplanes.
