F-104 nut
Just got this in the mail last week and couldn't wait to start on it . This is a really nice looking kit . I'm going for the markings of the No. 808 Naval Air Squadron . Cockpit parts cleaned up and ready for paint. I found a way to mount the rear instrument panel to the right nose section that way ican install the seat last and they wont be damgaed during the build . Holes drilled out for the crew ladders . 4094AEB9-0CDA-4878-B889-B43364EEA235 by b007scott, on Flickr D41B2CC2-75A8-4530-A6AA-CB5C9B4E0D5C by b007scott, on Flickr 66D74B48-44ED-4C46-9EAB-C3FC4FF73C50 by b007scott, on Flickr 5ACC91EA-3F95-4156-8A5E-E4C0DBCB8464 by b007scott, on Flickr 75B86C33-822C-4449-BF36-7451747A3731 by b007scott, on Flickr C5A24C9E-D083-489C-ABB7-F540DFC9DAF1 by b007scott, on Flickr A07A7309-FC6A-4BFA-AFB7-DD05CA1682B8 by b007scott, on Flickr 6F48B529-9B15-4BB0-A74C-34F228EFF562 by b007scott, on Flickr 9DEA5849-6B24-4C1A-85E6-96A4BB541452 by b007scott, on Flickr C14C4AE6-C80B-4D67-B236-758093B037A5 by b007scott, on Flickr Brian Edited October 9, 2022 by F-104 nut
F-104 nut
Spent the last few days working on the tail. The little airscoop on the front spine was short shot. I cut the bas section off and add plastic rod. Once glued dried i reshaped it and drilled the hole out . Biggles87
First up with the new Bucc, interested to see how it goes. There seems to be a decent amount of internal detail there, although looks a little soft. Looking forward to more. John
PattheCat
A good start. Looking at your close-up pics I wouldn't have believed it's an Airfix kit. Cockpit and surface detail are very good, not as soft as many of their former releases. Have fun. I'm taking a seat.
heloman1
Looking great so far, I'll follow your build although, I don't think I'll be investing in the kit. I'll stick with the 72nd offering. Colin
SteveMc
This kit has had some good reviews. The cockpit detail looks oK but not as sharp as some other brands. Look forward to seeing this come together.
Dr. Quack
Following with interest. I'll be ordering one as soon as the S.2B is issued. Looking good. Q

F-104 nut
Been pretty busy the last week with the Bucc project . Cockpit was completed using the kit cockpit decals . Assembling of the airframe is pretty good. Cockkpit deails dry brushed with model master neutral gray . really poped out the buttons knobs and various details . Onluy issue i had was the outer intake parts and intake lip ring fit (maybe my fauult ? ) but got is cleanded up with the tamiya sanding sponges and a little Mr surfacer 1500 primder brushed on 82414347-2714-4CB8-B2BB-46D795CC344B by b007scott, on Flickr DCEF8CA0-C3F1-4114-9B1A-D5C32CA5C39A by b007scott, on Flickr A95406A9-73E9-41D6-9F7F-E092785176BD by b007scott, on Flickr 59F328FA-EBA8-49D9-BFEB-D85880BFFF46 by b007scott, on Flickr D63E99A1-33D1-4228-B405-5F30AC804FF3 by b007scott, on Flickr 6DC240E8-64C6-42E1-9E99-1977C272A095 by b007scott, on Flickr D375D395-03D9-4F15-908A-8000AB29033B by b007scott, on Flickr EDBE2EB1-332C-48DB-BAE7-435FCAD76F9E by b007scott, on Flickr D76DFA0E-113B-4FF7-94E1-175E5D70DD88 by b007scott, on Flickr D604BA5D-7030-4C03-B4A1-3D7DEA2F7F4D by b007scott, on Flickr 88569C21-1F45-4EC5-AC19-951DCD8A9A02 by b007scott, on Flickr 32FBBC2D-66D4-42AB-9789-DB1DD761E6F7 by b007scott, on Flickr CFE6AFBC-8226-46EF-9B1D-992E6A6FAAA2 by b007scott, on Flickr B53BBE69-E86B-4DA9-81F5-8C6D6553670E by b007scott, on Flickr 9F2CEB5F-3282-4C2C-95C7-8EF27557A093 by b007scott, on Flickr D4B4EFB9-CFB9-4D7C-8354-05A23EC5D60D by b007scott, on Flickr Brian

Rob Maynard
Looking really good so far. That cockpit is quite impressive for "out of the box" detailing. Can i ask what you primed the cockpit area with? (if indeed you did prime it?) Keep up the great work!!
David H
This is just me, but personally i think it looks better now that the surface has been sanded down and that slightly pebbly texture is gone. However, i'm a wet sanding and priming maniac.... Edited October 19, 2022 by David H i added some pretty pictures.

F-104 nut
Finally some more updates on the Bucc. Got the landing geard and wheels assembled and test fitted on the Bucc to make sure nose weight was correct and the amout i added with a nut worked out . I went with the slip wing fuel tanks as they really look cool as well as rocket pods. Next i got tht crew ladders assembled and something seemed to be missing. Did some research and found the the ladders in the kit was missinga tow braces that goes in between the left and right side of the ladder mount. So now the ladders are complete. Few more things to get glued then i can start painting a bunch of subassembles 🙂 CAAEC72F-069C-417B-A6BB-D519E8D9DB3F by b007scott, on Flickr E9A9AD6F-C354-4F42-9E65-533EF29DDA15 by b007scott, on Flickr F20A8103-FE5F-4A73-881C-E1B305B2BA32 by b007scott, on Flickr 9D49EC37-53CA-40CE-B1E9-A5E950DC8A55 by b007scott, on Flickr 056BF8BC-D8DF-44B6-AEC6-D1395A1A259B by b007scott, on Flickr C53DEA91-0F23-4380-96C0-95F799413104 by b007scott, on Flickr 6FEF19D6-516E-46C9-9AD5-C662808C1FE5 by b007scott, on Flickr BE3F3189-C949-497F-A049-7A503E92E70F by b007scott, on Flickr 028D70AD-B0FB-4798-9D1B-33733E0ED606 by b007scott, on Flickr Brian
Biggles87
Despite my previous comments on some cockpit components looking a little ‘soft ‘ they’ve come up well with some skilful painting. I think I might treat myself to one as a Christmas present after all. It’s above my self imposed price limit for 1/48 kits and I didn’t want to spend more on aftermarket items, but this looks like it might be OK straight from the box. Looking forward to more. F-104 nut
Today on the Blackburn Buccaneer channel. Now that I have the Eduard canopy mask coming time to get this finished . Spent hour working on the coaming . First I sprayed primer them Tamiya LP Flat black , then went back and sprayed mottled Tamiya LP NATO black for weather look . Drybrushed model master neutral gray to pop the detail out 🙂 B9D726F2-FC19-4624-B0A1-6F2944358C9B by b007scott, on Flickr 7E642EA1-A61A-4E63-BFC2-82C0A827F86E by b007scott, on Flickr AF3B3FD0-45E4-4ED9-B25C-F6D7B6468D19 by b007scott, on Flickr 8B06E571-49C0-45F0-8882-CD424E918F98 by b007scott, on Flickr F7F6E43B-4E34-4CBC-A828-103E991D69C6 by b007scott, on Flickr Brian
Winded Penguin
Based on the model jig for scale purposes and other threads, I'm reminded again that this builds into a large model in 1/48 scale. Great work on bringing the details out on the cockpit 👍

Flying Badger
Very tasty. The primer coat looks really smooth and should wet and dry to a really nice surface. I've got some Mr Finisher 1500 Grey from Telford which I'm planning to use to try it out as a primer (as an alternative to Tamiya cans of Fine surface primer). What ratio are you thinning it down for airbrushing? I assume you thin it with Mr Colour Thinner? Many Thanks
