Saw this lovely and popular Mini Pick-Up in Letchworth earlier. I'm not sure what it will be able to move.😀

My son and I have a load of Austin 7 (1922-39) spares, plenty of spare chassis, engines, wheels and other necessaries,  but we lack enough bodies so #1 wants us to build an early 1930s style pick-up with a car towing rig, just like that Mini.  I think our Austin 7 project might just be able to lift a donut, then go nose up

Visited a local book fair yesterday arvo & coming home from that, pulled up beside what my son told me was a 1935 Chev Junior at a set of lights. Unfortunately it was turning left to my straight through so didn't get much of a look at it other than it appeared to be a nice restoration in period style, light brown body (4 door) with darker guards in what appeared to be an old style brushed finish rather than sprayed. My impression anyway.

Last weekend I ended up doing some overtime near Leeds.  The company had already explained there would be a certain amount of hanging around involved, so I took a book with me.  The closer I got to the client the more fancy motors were about,  I mentioned this in passing to the Engineer I was working with and he explained that the Motorist was about 400 yards up the road.  Lets just say I never read my book whilst waiting.

Some of the highlights included this GT6

These two Beetles,  neither of which sounded standard to me

p?i=d82fd337f5438d696f1f07bebfbef778

Not particularly into BMW's but I'd have this Alpina in a heart beat

p?i=af1497ea369188aa6c6c2bc636aef062

Inside was this lovely Riley

p?i=a032bf0c47030ccf51994898f7f4dde3

There was also a Lotus Cortina,  but I'm sure someone has already posted it

The workshop was to die for

p?i=1aa7e4cd343c0bd629cb26a28ae3e115

There was also a couple of ordinary cars in immaculate condition

p?i=e249db829d42015e91510c23ea406235

Finally I'm not sure this number plate mod is legal 🤔

p?i=c627bf1c11ee3484086ccea7d6c4a3e1

Then this week I spotted some American Iron on my travels

p?i=c60c0aec2bb7912511dc56f73b442f50

It says Cadilac on the Hub caps so I'm guessing that's what it is, again I'm guessing 80's and not thier finest moment.

Lastly sitting in a lay-by having a cup of tea and this went past

No idea, but guessing late 40s early 50s. - Andy

@Toftdale I was at Motorist about a month ago , I put  a few photos on . It gets very busy , especially on Sundays . Always , like you found , a good selection of all sorts of cars and bikes . Lord Alan Sugar flew into the next door airfield and had a meal at Motorist  the other week !

It is an 80s Cadillac as you suspected, a Cadillac Seville to be exact. Not that long ago one of the smaller TV channels had Knight Rider reruns on - there was one of these which was obviously used over and over again by the bad guys in about half the episodes of one series (or so it seemed).

Not been to the Motorist myself, but my ST senses are tingling from the background on a lot of your photos - looks as though there was quite an ST presence when you were there 😎

I got quite a few looks when I turned up in my Toyota Corolla 😄😅, its just a shame I could only spend about 45 minutes there.

There were several ST's about, unfortunately a very small number of them were the sort give car people a bad name by driving like idiots an enjoying the sound of the turbo dumps too much, however In fairness there was some stiff competition from some of the BMW owners as well (or perhaps I'm just getting old 😄)

Thanks I knew someone would know, do I get half a point for late 40s early 50s?

No, you're not getting too old - I can't deny that there is a certain type of driver who drive like idiots. It does seem as though pretty much every hot hatch is affected by it (coming from a safe, boring ST driver here). That said, the worst one I've seen was some bloke who'd fitted the fake dump valve sound to his 1.1 Polo - it went off every time he changed gear

I run a Golf GTD and now I'm old enough to know better I only ever use half the performance it has to offer . I'm into top gear as soon as !! The over crowded , potholed , speed bumped and camera vanned roads don't help ....

Neither do the ridiculous speed limits imposed here by the Welsh ''government'' on almost all of our quiet country roads and I see no point in changing my bus of a Suzuki Grand Vitara - at least it's easy to get in and out of....!! (another sign that old age don't come alone!  🤣 )

I'm sure it was a new, electric Nissan Ariya that I saw today. It may be a brilliant motor but I wasn't overly impressed with its ugly face.😬😀

Yay or nay?

Definite Nay! Horrendous.

I saw a Citroen BX today down near Stilton. Silver with tatty paint. Still looks futuristic.

And Yesterday a Dark green Ford Zodiac (Just like the old Airfix kit picture) in excellent condition in south Lincoln.

...most definitely.

I can't think of an "EV" that isn't pig ugly from the front (except maybe a 1960's milk float!! 🤣)

That thing does look like a prime candidate for the next Transformers movie though...!! :rofl2:

Funnily enough I went past a black one of these on the A1M this afternoon. The grille is much less offensive on a black car, that said I still think it's nowhere near the mind-destroying ugliness that is called a BMW iX!

But, as an antidote to all that I was tunnel-blasted by a Ferrari F430 in the Hatfield Tunnel just a few miles earlier, and I think the driver was definitely enjoying the sound :) (My windscreen isn't really as dirty as this picture makes it look, just some stubborn marks which the lights picked up).

Other than that, the best I can report is an Alfa Spyder coming the other way in, erm.... British Racing Green 😄

I've had that once before in the Hatfield Tunnel. It was a Ferrari too but couldn't tell you which one.

Out of curiosity I had a look at BMW iX. Now there's an image I never want to see again.😲🤮

Strangely, an ex-boss of mine had one in exactly that colour!

In the depths of southern Denmark yesterday evening - not one but TWO Lincoln Continentals, in convoy, heading south. Both on DK plates. No pics, as I was driving with no car cam.
