The colour of my Corsair is Lagoon Blue and a sod to photograph as it changes colour so much depending on the natural light available.

Interesting. Arcadian blue is also a sod, especially to airbrush, it's so easy to miss a bit.

They never did one right?

Not to the best of my knowledge Steve - bet it would be stunning if they did one now though (although I'd rarher they did a Mk2 Escort - pretty please Tamiya...!! :) )

Stunning looking car he has though - and I'm not even the teensiest bit jealous., nope, not at all... !!

Stuck in traffic coming through Canterbury earlier s'afternoon I saw a beautiful white P reg (1975-ish) Ford Cortine Mk III 2-door convertible in absolutely perfect condition.  First one I've ever seen and I'm pretty sure not a factory-built option.  Crayford perhaps?

Nope. GMH did build Vauxhalls out here in the '50s, from CKD packs and sold as Vauxhalls.

Thanks for the info. I watched an Aussie film years ago about a boy and his first car. Called something like The FM I think.

It probably had similar styling, hence the confusion.

Crayford did indeed do mk3 convertibles, retaining the side glass in the rear windows. Home made conversions seem to have been a bit of a thing in those days too though.

Thanks Pete, this one did indeed retain the rear quarter window glass, therefore looks like it was a Crayford.  It actually looked considerably better than the saloons ever did!

I always liked the look of the Mk3 Cortina, so if it was better looking than the saloon it must have been a very pretty car.

Anyway, today's 'spot' from me is actually a non-spot. For the past 3 weeks, someone has been parking a Bentley Bentayga next to a no-parking sign around the corner from our office and had a ticket every day (the exception being when a scaffolding lorry was parked there to get loaded). Today it wasn't there. Is it too much to hope that after all those parking tickets the owner has finally learned their lesson?

(Probably it is too much to hope)

If the only penalty for an offence is a fine then you're basically saying that it's legal as long as you can afford it.  I guess for someone who can afford a Bentley the fines aren't a problem.

Doing a little carspotting today after shooting some videos

IMG-6347.jpg

The old F82 M4 in Black Sapphire looks... well, normal. If my friend didn't tell me there's an M4 I would have not noticed

IMG-6411.jpg

A brand new AMG G63 in Graphite Gray Magno. Black, for everyone else. Why everyone and their mother obsessing over a matt-black G63 is beyond me, I'd rather have it in bright colour. South Sea Blue Metallic, anyone?

This is by far the best spot of the day, though. 964 Carrera 4 in Guards Red, complete with obligatory Carrera RS-style wheels. So good-looking I decided to do a 100m sprint just to snap some photos. Traffic lights are on my side, though.

Further too my post of the MGC on the trailer, I spent a fair bit of yesterday watching the rally & managed some time at the break/service area. Unfortunately the way it was being run, not all vehicles were there at the same time, so there was a lot of coming & going & I missed some that I would like to have got, all the same, I had a good time with what I saw.

1976 MGB GT V8

Most of these & including the MGC, were in the VCC administered class, vehicles over 30 years, there was a early 90s Toyota Corona among them which I didn't bother to photograph. There event was a target time event, closed to average spped sort of thing, this didn't stop the Mk 2 Jag flooring it as he passed the group I was in on the first stage. A beautiful noise. When I work out how to take frame shots from the vids I have, dozens of them but I'll  put some of the more interesting ones up.

While spectating a stage later in the day I noticed this old dear parked up the road a bit, so after the safety cars had gone through & cleared the course, I shot along & got this.

A 1965 Hillman Minx Estate. it looked very original other than the lace pattern on the bonnet, remember them? :D

Buying some vegies today, this was in the carpark, couldn't pass it up.

A 1962 Cortina, pretty basic spec, bench front seat floor gear change & pretty tidy. Whilst out what I'm pretty sure was a McLaren 720s went through a roundabout in front of me, orange with a black top, that was a surprise & on the way home, passed a parked Porsche Cayman I think, nice deep yellow, thought it was a Ferrari of some sort to begin with till I spotted the Porsche badge on the bonnet/boot lid, watch the road she said :D , not typically Porsche looking I thought.

Steve.

Lovely photos of some fabulous cars, Steve!

On the M11 today I saw the fugly RR "SUV thing" again.  Still horrible!  However, a short while later I saw a much more graceful RR powered machine - a Spitfire joining the circuit at Duxford.  Then, down near Stansted, a VW beetle in a turquoise colour with a full length canvas sun roof.  On a K suffix plate (1972?) and it looked really tidy.

One of our local car clubs pitched up at the museum today.

3 early notchback Mustangs, a Mk 3 E Type, A Mk III Zodiac, several proper Minis including a cooper, but for me the star was a 1957 Plymouth Belevedere like this
