Vince1159 Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 (edited) @Tyas,the 911 is so outrageous that it's one of those cars that needs to be owned your second 'Aisuru Hito' is the same but for a different reason,it almost looks standard the only thing i don't like about her is the wheels, they remind me of Alfa's Cloverleaf...... @keefr22,It is mate i don't hate them but i'm a commited Lambo lover.... nearsightedjohn Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 My wife & spent ten days earlier this month in Uzbekistan, mainly to visit our adult daughter who has been teaching English to high school students under a Fulbright scholarship (she’s much smarter than her dad!). Interesting low-crime place, nice people, weird food. Here’s what they drive there: Small white Chevrolets, everywhere you look!!!! I guess they manufacture them there and they must be really cheap because the cost of living is crazy low (taxi rides across town are about $1.50 USD). The downside, the cars all run on either benzine or LNG and the re-fueling lines can be many blocks long. Fuel shortages are evidently new there this winter due to the energy crunch in Europe and Central Asia. They’re were also a lot of older Soviet legacy cars such as Lada’s (Fiat 124 sedans with drum brakes?). Here’s one of the nicer ones that a chap was showing to some potential buyers in a car park: I did see a few Mercedes and Porsches in Tashkent, the most affluent town, but for the most part white Chevies dominated the roads. 12
cmatthewbacon Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Went out to bring the bin in and found this burbling away at the bottom of the drive. Owner was visiting some of his childhood haunts in a rather pristine newly finished upgrade. It started life as a pretty plain 1300, but now sports a Sierra Cosworth engine for some(!) added grunt. I guess it's probably a restomod, technically. He had a Mexico, but sold it on when it became too valuable to drive and modify -- originality is all with those, apparently. Still, he now has a cool-looking 200+ BHP Escort that's probably rather nippier than an 86 BHP Mexico... best, M. 19
fatfingers Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Was in Skipton today and saw a Polester 2 plugged in and charging up. Nothing unusual you may say, except this one was a fully decked out British Transport Police car! https://images.app.goo.gl/E6eUZfp9H8hwGAJB7 Looks rather good in blue and yellow battenburg with the light bar on top. I imagine it's crew were either patroling the canal or sat in a cafe having tea and biccies! 😄 Regards, Steve 8
Farmer matt Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 A model I was not aware of before, Toyota Chaser. 4 door saloon and fairly subtle but obviously in the Impreza /Evo tuner mode. Think it was on a V prefix, probably a grey import. Also a black 1954 Standard Vangaurd in what looked like fresh restoration condition. Matt 4
Farmer matt Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Then just sat down with a coffee and heard a burbling. Just blending in with the Saturday traffic, you would hardly notice really would you. Matt 8 2
fatfingers Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Is/was that a Vauxhall Viva?? 😲 Regards, Steve
Six97s Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 DVLA still think it's blue with the original 3.3 straight six. 🤔
Tyas Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Went back to Jakarta for two days on Friday, of course it'll be foolish to not spot cars. Well... it's part of my job anyway but anyhow... A 488 Pista in Tailor Made specification, this one is in Azzurro Dino with Bianco Avus-Rosso Corsa stripe, and bright Rosso Ferrari interior. This was imported by a parallel importer who also happened to be the authorised dealer of BAC, Morgan, and Koenigsegg in Indonesia. In their workshop there's also another Tailor Made Ferrari 488 Pista, a Spider in Grigio Squalo with Bianco Avus-Azzurro La Plata stripe and full Cuoio alcantara interior. The main reason for me and my team to visit the dealer: This new Lotus Emira First Edition in the appropriate colour of Hethel Yellow. We used to have a Lotus dealer here alongside Lamborghini but the people who ran the company was unscrupulous, to put it very mildly. So no new Lotus since 2012, until Emira appeared. And yes, underneath the svelte new design, Emira has the spine and heart of Evora. Which is a good thing, Evora being an amazing driver's car. Things from Saturday, a Porsche Club Indonesia morning coffee gathering. First up is this Crayon 718 Spyder, with Spyder Classic interior package The last of the manual RennSport, the 997.2 GT3 RS in the launch spec of Grey Black with Guards Red accent. That carbon aerodisc is not Manthey Racing item, though. Was crafted by local workshop and tied to the OEM wheels with 5 clamps. My favourite car of the day, a new 992 GT3 Touring in Crayon. Or Mr Surfacer 1500 Light Grey, for modeller-speak. Anyway, I always prefer GT3 Touring over non-Touring GT3 because of its cleaner design and painted bumpers. And the fact that GT3 Touring has a more road-biased set-up for its suspension because... it's a Touring. And it doesn't have the gigantic ironing-board rear wing, so they need to retune the damping and spring rate. 5

Farmer matt Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 This morning started sensibly enough, with a black 103E on the Dorking Road and then followed a tidy grey and white 1964 105E Anglia deluxe estate along the A25. Modern wheels and furry dice but otherwise seemed stock, and not lowered for once. Then this. G63 Onyx. And then I found this just down the road You dont see that many Novas and this has at least escaped the Halfords tuner brigade but needs tlc I suspect. 8
Kitkent Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 A bit of a cheat as these aren’t road cars, but the black one’s a bit topical for this forum. Seen at Race Retro on Friday, where the auction was so I could see some of those auction cars. 12

That Nova looks OK from behind , but is probably rough underneath. I had a white GTE , F882XWX . Gary . 2
Farmer matt Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 There are lots of Defenders around here, and at first I thought I had pulled out behind just another one, in green on a 57. Something didnt look right though, and it turned out to be (the sticker on the back said) a Santana PS10, which having looked it up is basically a Spanish Defender knockoff . 2
malpaso Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 Not necessarily knockoff, Santana are or were licensed LR builders (I think they also license built Suzuki off -readers). Over time their appearance drifted somewhat from the UK product, there’s one near me which looks more-or-less-like-a-Defender-but-built-by-people-who-actually-cared! 4
Pete in Lincs Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 Late this morning near Oadby (Leics) a GPO Yellow Austin Maestro van. Tatty and clearly being used by a local craftsman/worker of some kind. And I forgot to report a sighting yesterday. Near Newark a silver Jaguar (late XJ6 type) with the Reg JG52 BOY. maybe a Luftwaffe fan? 2
fatfingers Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 On the back of a low loader yesterday was a late model Skoda Estelle in an orangey red colour. Not seen one of those for many years! Regards, Steve 2
