Thought it was all our left overs you were copping.

Hope you all get a bit of respite and damage is not too widespread.

Those too probably, though I do keep hearing them mention Coral Sea in the situation rundown.

Spotted some spicy JDM cars last Sunday after a JDM festival event a day before

IMG-9457.jpg

This one's my pick of the bunch. R35 GT-R Nismo Special Version. Nissan Indonesia used to import GT-Rs back in 2013 up until 2016 but they didn't bother afterwards and their servicing was pretty abysmal so everyone bought grey imports instead and received help from specialist workshops. The SV was only available in Japan, USA and Australia, with only 300 units allocated if I remembered correctly. The difference with the 'normal' Nismo includes red details on wheels and clear lacquered carbon bonnet... and that's it. Does look amazing though. Especially in Stealth Grey.

IMG-9565.jpg

This one is a 2008 GT-R with full Varis body kit and a full HKS engine rebuilt, allegedly pumpung out 800hp. Same owner as the Nismo SV, he owned several rare JDM cars as well (NA1 NSX R comes to mind) as well as a C63 Black Series.

Yes, another GT-R. This one is from my hometown, only recently finished another rounds of tuning. Now packs 1000hp from a rebuilt engine.

IMG-9509.jpg

A true JDM special, the FD2 Civic Type R. Many said this is a much better car then its EUDM/UKDM FN2 counterparts, thanks to its multi link rear suspension and a higher tune for the K20A engine here compared with FN2.

The last of Mitsubishi's homologation special, the Evo VI Tommi Makinen Edition GSR. This one got the Zero Fighter livery rather than the usual Tommi Makinen livery from 2000 WRC car.

That's is a rather different motorworld in Indosesia. Many cars I've never heard of. Strange.

Our world of cars are rather weird, thanks to Suharto's draconian rule of no imported cars back in 1966 all the way to 1998.

All the while his cronies importing Lamborghinis and Ferraris behind closed doors.

Most probably a replica, but still a 'Yes please!' moment, in passing traffic at Betchworth a dark blue GT40. Didnt catch the reg to check sadly, rear plates were black but that is no guide really as the age rules for those seem to be ignored.

Driving back from Arles this afternoon I saw a very nice shiny black early 1960s Ford Ranchero just outside Graveson going in the opposite direction. I did not know there were any of these in France!

Don't know how old, or what model, but it does look quite wonderful.

Trevor

A bit more information; it's a 1938 Riley Kestrel 12/4 Light Saloon.  Thank you Google!

Yesterday I went to Sentul International Circuit after getting invited by Porsche Indonesia for the media day of Porsche World Road Show 2023. Think of it as Porsche Experience Centre traveling show, and you'd be close.

IMG-9695.jpg

The 718 Cayman GT4 RS left a huge impression on me. That engine intake sound is unreal, as if it got VTEC kicking in beyond 7000rpm, and when it hits 9000 it was just pure assault to senses. Glad Porsche decided to give GT4 RS a green light.

IMG-9681.jpg

My friend got 2 laps behind the wheel of the 992 GT3 and mightily impressed. Then I got a chance for one hot lap driven by Porsche's driving instructor. That basically was a reality check for me, now knowing that I will never be able to drive THAT fast and brake THAT hard.

IMG-9697.jpg

Porsche's pointless but brilliant Cayenne Turbo GT. Exactly who needs a motorsport-tuned 600+hp 2-tonne SUV for trackday is anyone's guess, but I do feel a bit guilty for actually liking it. Later we got an offroad coaching session with a Cayenne GTS, I am shocked at how capable that car, with normal Pirelli road tyres, cope with mud, ruts and rocks.

IMG-9782.jpg

A lurid 992 Turbo S Cabriolet in Python Green for acceleration-deceleration coaching clinic. This thing just launches like demented rabbit. Still got battered by Taycan Turbo S, though.

IMG-9804.jpg

A more normal 992 Turbo S in Racing Yellow, this one is equipped with lightweight package (rear seat delete, lightweight bucket seats etc). This one was deployed for handling coaching session during rain, replacing the Shark Blue GT3. The GT4 RS pace car was replaced by Cayenne Turbo GT during rainy weather.

IMG-9630.jpg

Also, the South-East Asian market launch for the new, rather brutal 992 GT3 RS with Weissach Package. Not quite as insane as the world premiere launch car with its Ice Gray Metallic/Pyro Red colour scheme, but still pretty mad-looking. Followed it in the GT3, this thing is just on another planet when it comes to track performance.

February 2nd was my 30th birthday. I could not ask for a better birthday present, really.

Coming home from Avignon, I saw a grey Aston-Martin DB5 followed by a maroon Porsche 356 convertible and a red Triumph TR6. Maybe there is a show going on near here that I did not know about? I will have to check.

Weird day of spots, all in A23,A25, Dorking Road triangle, the sunshine has brought out the classics.

Two Cobras, one silver the other a replica on a Q in maroon.

3-series saloon on a D-, 5-series on a J-

65 Mustang in metallic light blue

Chevy Caprice stationwagon in matt black on an -X,

1990 911 in red on personals

Escort Mk1 more doors in brown

Yesterday saw twice, and I wish I had known it was coming back past could have photo'd it, in green on an -L Vauxhall Victor ? saloon. But, you can find it easily on the interweb, its a straight axle gasser with 'A good run of bad luck' emblazoned on the sides. Alarmingly nose high for normal driving.

I saw a weird looking three wheeler yesterday - a Morgan type thing.  I looked up the reg and DVLA think it's a black 1951 Ariel motorcycle (yes, two wheels), first registered in 2022... also untaxed.  🤔

On a bike ride today, saw a gold Mustang 64-66 hardtop, an Alvis and matt red Lamborghini Huracan, I think an STO by the rear wing!

I think it's spoken for: chap who owns it runs a historic Riley business. Hopefully one day it will run again :)

That's an Adelphi, which used the same wide track chassis as the 6 light Kestrel posted earlier (the 4 light Kestrel and the Falcon saloon were on the same narrow track chassis as the Lynx tourer).  Not enough shown in the pics to confirm the year, but '37 was the mid year for production so is as good a guess as any!  '36 & '37 are pretty much the same visually - '38 lost the bonnet louvres, gained chrome slats to the radiator (instead of black honeycomb) and had straight bumpers, as opposed to the curved ones fitted to '37.  If you see one with bolt on wires with big chrome hubcaps in the middle, that's a 16/4 (which had the 21/2 litre engine, as opposed to the 12/4's 11/2 litre) or possibly an 8/90, which had a 2.2 V8 (essentially a pair of the 9hp 1.1 fours joined together to make a triple cam unit).  Around this time, Riley were building so many different models that the joke was that each car they built was listed individually in the brochures...  This lack of rationalisation and economy of scale is what drove them into recievership in '38, and thence Nuffield ownership.

I doubt this example will see the road again as a saloon - much more likely to become the basis of a VSCC special, but I would love to be proven wrong!

A car I'd seen around a few times lately, was spotted again this morning & this time I got the rego, a 2022 FIAT ABARTH 595, (not the one I saw but similar) bright golden yellow, looks awesome (I Like that deep golden yellow as a car colour, so there.) :P :D 145 hp in something that small would have to be a blast, shades of Mini Cooper S sort of blast. :)

My missus got rid of her Abarth last year and bought a new Fiat 500e. The Abarth sounded nice and I liked the look of it (we got a local graphics company to do chrome Abarth scorpions for it) but I have to say I adore her 500e. It's the top-spec one (the Margherita or something that sounds like a pizza) and plays music when you first set off. It also shows that EVs don't have to be lumpy great expensive carbuncles! Showing my age now, but it's a lot more comfortable too 😊

I can relate to that, the Abarth sounds like fun but that could likely wear thin pretty quickly, especially at my age, just getting in & out of it could be a challenge & I'm not that unlimber. :)
