Yes I didn’t quite realise how so complex they are! Shame that I can’t see many kits of theses cars ever being made. I have some similar pictures, but not as good from a visit to Mercedes at Brooklands museum. Nice pictures! Chris.

@Windy37 maybe built in UK, by Sutton. Last H means History registering. I look tomorrow dashboard. Sutton cars had normal dashboard.

Answer is here. But car is not made by Sutton.

Given they're two different brands (albeit Ford-owned ones), I suspect the Schneider Mercury Lincoln badge is a dealer badge.

Whatever the case though, got to love headlamp covers - I know they're almost needless complexity, but isn't it a shame cars today don't come with moveable headlamp covers or retractable headlamps?

Until the mechanism goes awry, and you end up with one open and one closed, or both jammed half-open, or some other equally useless combination!

... as a proof of concept that you can do a 250-mile round trip in a Taycan without having to worry about topping it up again.

LOL, that wouldn't get me to work and back home. Glad I can't afford one.

Its been an interesting couple of days for spots, Sunday was a 1971 Fiat 124 Coupe, a really pretty car to my eye, superb styling.  Yesterday was a 1970 something (?) VW beetle, big rear window & wide rear number plate light cover, didn't get the rego to get the year. Bulgy front bonnet & medium big tail lights. Looks original but in good nick. Also a 1971 Mustang Mach 1 looking very yummy in mid metallic blue & today a 1975 Datsun 120Y, very tidy with some wider alloys on it which did good things for its looks. Sorry, no photos. :(

One of the (many!) things I loved about New Zealand is that you don't seem to put salt on the roads in winter, and as a result there were a sizeable number of 1970s and 80's Japanese cars around which would have just rotted away in the UK.

So today's picture isn't a "Spot of the Day" from today, but instead is a Spot of the Day from 10 years* (and a couple of days) ago - a Datsun 180B parked in front of the cafe where I had lunch. Stupidly, i waited until after I'd got my food as I was in need of a good cup of tea having just got off the ferry and collected the hire car - if I'd taken the photo beforehand rather than getting down I would have had the Mk1 Escort which was in the space in front.

Its all in a good cause & I'm always happy to see photos from this sort of adventure, a snapshot of bygone days. I can't recall having seen a 180B for ages, likewise a 120Y till yesterday so I'm sure they're still out there. The Picton foreshore hasn't changed a great deal in the interim as I recall from the last time I was there, but that might be 4-5 years ago now.

It's not just the salt - be assured that Datos and other Japanese vehicles of that vintage were seriously prone to terminal tin-worm, salt or no salt, in this part of the world anyway.

One Real one, as below at M&S Roundhouse car park in Chelmsford

And this one, which is a bit of a cheat, but I had no idea this car existed. It's on the wall in David's cafe in Sudbury, which does excellent food and has a range of car photos, which seem to indicate that, at an earlier time, David was a Formula Ford driver

hopefully, you can zoom up the photo to read the text., which is pretty interesting. Sorry about the room lighting on it, isn't it always afterwards that one sees that.🥴

It's definitely a Lincoln.   It was usual to have combined Lincoln-Mercury dealerships, but separate from Ford dealers as Lincoln and Mercury were marketed as their upmarket brands.

Been to Sheffield today and in the space of the 40 minute journey via the M18 and tram I spotted these modern classics

yellow Mini

white Audi Coupe ( Quattro shape )

white Porsche 944

red Peugeot 405 saloon

black Saab 900 Turbo

Not all together , but more than you see on the roads in the summer !

No doubt meeting the scrapman soon.

I can’t help feeling it won’t?  Or the number plate at least as that’s potentially tax / MOT / ULEZ free…as long as it “seems” to be on a 1971 green Mini!

Apart from the flat tyre, probably in no worse condition than my (literally) one careful lady owner 1975 one was when I got it in 1981…

The Citroen and the Mini are bordering on sacrilege, what a waste....

TBH - The Citroen seems to be on a new set of wheels and tyres, an episode of "Wheeler Dealers" revealed that you can get a conversion kit to install a Ford Pinto lump so perhaps it's a "Sleeper"?

I like it.
