Ford Mustang - Lego creator !

Recommended Posts

Evening guys :)

A few days ago, I couldn't imagine that I'll open simultaneously three threads in the WIP section !

But my birthday was September 30th, and my wife thought it was funny to give me a poisoned gift, probably tired of me complaining about the plastic kit bodies that I regularly torture when I don't get my way!

So I received  THIS 😮🤔:

52399260287_2047e1ae85_h.jpg

Of course, I used to build Lego  with my two sons some decades ago, and more recently with my elder grand-daughter, who is near 5 years old and is a passionate of Legos.

I don't want to bore you with this type of construction, but after all, I won't be the first to do it on this website, and there's no reason why I should be the only one to fall back into childhood! 🤣

So I decided to share it with you, and I will build this model (splendid by the way) very slowly, at the rhythm of my little daughter's stays at home (about twice a month) because I have the desire to build this Mustang with her.

So, you can buy beer packs and ton of popcorn for these 313 steps build !!!!!!

52399260262_847cf92354_h.jpg

And a last word: don't worry, there's no way to modify this kit with scratch-building.....unless.... 😉

Afternoon happy fellows :)

First sub-assembly: the chassis

There's 2 parts bags numbered for the chassis, and the first one contains a third bag of junction pieces .

I just counted the number of studs on the frame of the 1967 Mustang parked down the street from where I live. The frame should be seven studs across, not six. I'm shocked to see such poor research by the kit designers at Lego!

But honestly, I love how clever these Lego kits are and I'm looking forward to your photos.

Sorry Michael, I don't understand of which parts of the car you speaks with "studs" ! could you explain ?

Sorry about the confusion! I was being silly. Lego calls the little bumps on the bricks "studs," and it made me think of "rivet counters" and the gentle teasing on this forum of builders too concerned about realism.

That looks great! I've built the VW Camper (a Christmas present from my wife), The Ducati motorcycle and the Land Rover Defender about 18 months ago. All of them great builds!

Evening gentlemen :)

Thanks to my first grand-daughter, my sweet Emma, a Lego fanatic, we have progressed n this build today from Step 30 to Step 56: the chassis is almost achieved now.

Emma will be 5 years old on November 1st, but she's very clever and good with her hands, and she assembled the rear axle by herself ! Almost without error !

52463402749_762161a55b_z.jpg   52463692458_2ea1a049c8_z.jpg   52463612480_62f790bd75_z.jpg

Hereunder, on the first picture, she made a little mistake I noticed some steps later:

Mistake fixed :

And a second mistake... she began to get tired after such concentration efforts, and she inverted the assembly  !

Hi everybody :)

A little update I should have made earlier, as the following steps are 6 weeks old !

We go on with sub-assemblies of the chassis, and particularly the rear axle and the mechanism that allow to modify the suspension height !

Previous step was:

Let's continue with steps 56  to 65: (suspension height mechanism)

And now, a short video to show y ou the ingenuity of the system that Lego engineered :

And now, front part, under the bumper, steps 67 to 77 :

52570692757_e9f627f5d5_h.jpg

No more work on this Lego kit since those steps because my granddaughter has been more interested in building her owns Lego kits than mine 🙄

I'm a desperate grandpa 🥲

Stay connected if you like :)
