And if Wellington (Then prime minister) had agreed to fund Babbage fully we’d have had digital computers in the nineteenth century, albeit mechanical ones, imagine what that would have meant from a technological point of view..,,

Cat videos by the 1920s.

+12 for Airco / de Havilland in the last 24 hours?????????

Did a bunch of FIFA delegates become BM members overnight!

Hehe although it feels like it lost that many during the ups and downs of the last week. Looks like at least some of the classic GB rallied behind it maybe?

You are way too pessimistic in your estimate:

Splendid finish by the de Havillands! Shame on me for ever doubting!

Thanks for a wonderful bunfight! I was a bit disappointed last year (although I still managed to enter too many GBs) but I’m very happy with this year’s result!

And to those that didn’t make the cut, thanks for playing fair and not involving any Jacuzzi bunga-bunga - there’s always next year! Not My Comfort Zone didn’t make it last year, but if at first you don’t succeed…

Regards,

Adrian

Ditto - there is a whole bunch of more esoteric and varied themes this year. No grumbling from me.

There are 5 GBs that I could potentially enter from the qualifiers, though I will only choose one in all probability. Thing is, I only model in 1/32 scale so “Go Large” is the obvious choice, and I have to say that my previous GB experience here on BM wasn’t a good one due to what I perceived to be anti-large scale bias, so I pulled out. I’m sure that won’t happen again though!

I must admit only 1 of my choices scraped through this year. If you only build civilian vehicles you're pickings are always going to be slim if not non existent to participate.

Still, that's one more than I anticipated 😀

So the Bunfight is over... what am I going to do with myself now?

It's been a blast, thanks to @Enzo the Magnificent and @trickyrich for their efforts. I'm very happy with the outcome - Salty Sea Dog top of the pile and potentially a huge GB, and five GBs to take part in next year (six if I work up the nerve for Comfort Zone - and my efforts to lever a Spitfire into Transporters Loaders and Carriers was politely rebuffed 😁). Only Aces High and Planes, Names and Dames that I might have done didn't make the cut.

Looking forward to the calendar so i can see what I'm building first!

By my reckoning there are seven GBs which  would suit a civilian vehicle

Transporters, Loaders and Carriers  -  this is the obvious one

Southern Europe  -  any vehicle built in Italy

Desert  -  anything that took part in the Dakar rally

Entropy  -  pretty much anything

Not my comfort zone   -  maybe a white metal kit

Above the Karman line  -  Elon Musk's Tesla roadster

Go Large  -  Plenty of 1/12 scale vehcles out there.

Wow, that's a blast from the past! Thanks for taking me back 20 years, Marklo :) I'm off to dig out my Cold cd's...

Possibly their best album. They did release a new one a few years ago and it was a return to form after some disappointing releases. Still one of my favourite bands

Thanks very much to @Enzo the Magnificent for organising (should that be refereeing?) the bunfight and voting processes and to @trickyrich for his stat-management and charts, and thanks to everyone who voted.  It was inevitable that some potentially great GB's didn't get through, but the ones that did offer so much scope and opportunity that I don't think anyone can be that put out.  The Bumfight has been that much fun I wish we could do it more often - although I suspect that the cat-herding that takes place would mean that Enzo would need sedation.  Oh, also it'll take until next November to get that jacuzzi clean, so maybe once a year is enough?!

Well I’m disappointed that small scales didn’t make it and that only one of my proposals did (though with three STGBs to my name that may be a blessing in disguise) my only real causality was dassault as I have three mirages/derivatives that don’t have a home. But otherwise I just need to be a little more creative in fitting my builds to GBs :)

But 2023 looks like it will be a very interesting year for GBs

Now I need a Draken, a 1/144 B17 and something for go large ( I am currently watching a 1/32 he162 on eBay, which would fit the brief :) )

1, TLC, Lorries etc, not my forte, I built one once, that was enough

2, Southern Europe, Possible, but building a Ferrari on another site GB at present

3, Desert, Nothing in stash otherwise it may have been

4, Entropy, No interest in this GB whatsoever

5, NMCZ, I like white metal kits :)

6, ATKL, No interest in space, and no electric cars will be built on my watch 🤣

7, Go Large, My chosen build where I have a stash of 1/12 F1 cars ready and waiting :)

I'm building a burnt out Toyota pickup in the Entropy GB. Just sayin...

Sorry Bertie

I know a lot of people really like the idea of this GB, but I'm afraid it doesn't appeal to me at all for some reason

I know there's a lot of vehicles I could choose from, but I usually build motorsport cars (F1mainly) and they are usually modelled on a particular race and in A1 condition, so maybe that's why a rusting or burnt out thing doesn't appeal

I would just like to say,This had nothing to do with @nimrod54 or myself……..

Or did it?:hmmm:

I suppose a thank you is in order for our budgie smuggling wearer, the queen of resin and spreadsheets @trickyrich for all his…….. efforts in this year’s bunfight.

Thanks to @Enzo the Magnificent for keeping us roughly in check.

Adam & Eve were the first ones to ignore the Apple terms and conditions.

No problem Ian.

Curiously, for many people, doing an entropy build would also be out of their comfort zone. 😁
