Kids, This is no lie:

"What time it was"

If you listen to Vangelis track 'Pulstar', it has the Speaking Clock on it at the end.

In the last book of the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy Ford prefect rigs the communications system of a spaceship he’s squatting in to reverse charge call the speaking click to mega dodo publications in order to attempt to bankrupt them.

Particularly want everyone to try some 144th aircraft in the small scales GB 😁

My stash is depending on this :)  modern fighters are much more manageable in 1/144

What would happen if when voting closes there was a tie for the last GB slot?

Then I have to find another slot from somewhere.  It's happened before.

Would it not just work on countback, and the first of the tying GB's to achieve the requisite number of votes would secure the slot?

Rhotacism

... and of course lambdacism is for people who struggle with the letter "L".

Lucy Worsley notably suffers from Rhotacism, which made her series on Romanov Russia a particularly brave choice.

"What time it was"

I remember that :   "At the third stroke, it will be four twenty and forty seconds   beeb  beeb  beeb"     On a serious note I think it was to set the time on clocks and watches rather than actually tell the time. This was before the days of mobile/cell phones.       I can't remember when I last wore a watch.

       Regards, Jeff.

It's officially "Hump day"!!!!  :yahoo:

We have reached the top of the poll now it's a down hill run through the forest of knives, the jaws of despair, the clowder of cars, the abomination of bad jokes that just keep getting worse (you know who you are!!!) and on to the finish line into the loving open arms of the Lord of the GB....... Enzo the Magnificence!

Dear god, that is an excuse to run in the opposite direction if every I heard one! :bleh:

Ok to the chart and yes just 7 days of bad jokes to go.........right, 6 members voted and a few changed their votes as well.......naughty naughty!  :nono:

At this time last year 200 members had voted, so we are down a bit at the moment. At the of last years poll, 230 members decided the fate of the GB's, so as you can see those middle GB's are still all in the game!

Right the current top 6 (maybe 7 at a pinch) I reckon are safe and will go through without any problems........(have marked my predictions down.

..........at the other end, 31 and below......very unlikely sorry to say!

That just leave 8 GB's to fight for the last 5 positions, and with the way the votes now tend to swing it's anyones guess who will make it!

  Only the knives know.........🔪😱

My morning glance at the numbers found Entropy sliding down to eleventh place and those immediately below climbing upwards rapidly.

I'm very curious about people's reason for changing their minds. I'll never know but I suspect it's the difficulty of actually being creative with a model and the more or less essential diorama to stand it on. Fail, or fail to finish and you can't blame it on the kit!

I guess it will always be easier to build yet another same old same old and think yourself adventurous because it's in a different scale.

Good to see small scales back above the line! It can be a small commitment or it can be a large project. Even in 1/144 some planes are just huge!

If you're worried about fiddly parts, think of how fiddly the details in a 1/48 or 1/32 kit can be, there are probably plenty of large scale kits with smaller parts than many 1/144 kits.

And now it's slipped back. Get those votes in!

Hi,

I haven't voted yet and am glad: in previous years my vote has been like the kiss of death. I'm very happy with the top picks.

I am amazed, and sorry, that the "Pillar of Fire" isn't right up there. I thought, pre-vote, that that was the surest bet in the whole bunfight. It'll just have to be a dH vampire now, by the look of things.

Would love to see it go through, and VTOL/STOL. But it’s Meteorology that’s surprised me the most, to see it languishing in the doldrums.
