VMA131Marine Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Oh, this is awesome. The only other kit I’m aware of was/is a horribly expensive 3D printed version. It’s great we’ll have a mainstream kit in plastic. https://www.hlj.com/1-144-scale-jmsdf-trdi-kawasaki-p-1-fxna061 Maybe Hasegawa will do this in 1/72 as well.
k5054nz Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Definitely keen to get this and do it as a What If? (should have been*? 😁) RNZAF example. *I have the utmost faith in the P-8, I was just hoping for a P-1 and C-2 fleet. 2

Adam Poultney Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 Looks great! I like this aircraft, might have to pick one up. Just wish they'd reissue the Vulcan and update the Victor with blue steel or accurate K2 wings.
general melchett Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 Great subject choice. With those big cockpit windows, large nose wheels, long wings and stubby fuselage it almost looks like an eggplane of itself. An unholy alliance of a P-3C, DC-8 and KC-135, on that basis alone, I might well pick one up. 3 2

Eric B. Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 (edited) Hi, I am really interested by the 1/144th model if it's plastic. Reading carefully it seems it will be released both in 1/72nd and 1/144th scale which is a clue toward 3D Printing. Seing the description of parts on sprues, I wonder if its the same kit as described by VMA131Marine upper in that thread and thus resin (3D Resin). Brand names seem to be different "Fox One" versus "Pit road" but part distribution seems to be the same. https://www.hlj.com/1-144-scale-p-1-patrol-aircraft-japan-maritime-self-defense-force-fxna130# Cheers Sorry : There is a mix of information between the Fox One and Pit Road kits here and I may have been mislead by the Fox One kit description which has been provided in the same thread - Images actually showing the Fox One kits parts arrangement. Looking into the link provided by homebee Friday 4/11AM there is what seems the Pit Road kit parts description and thay actually are different > Pit Road is another new kit. I am still wondering if the Pit Road kit will be a plastic kit. If confirmed I'll need one along the Academy P-8. Eric B. Edited October 16, 2024 by Eric B.
seiran01 Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Pit Roads release will be in plastic not printed resin 1
Eric B. Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Greeaaaaaatttttt. Thank you for your kind information/confirmation, Seiran01. Academy P-8 and Pit Roads P-1 for me then!! Cheers Eric B.
Vex Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 I hope they follow this up with a C-2, I don't like the Aoshima one because the shape of the front was just wrong.
Sprue Picker Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Would be great to see a P-1 in 1/72-as an all-injection kit, along with a C-2. 1

Ditto that an injection C-2 would be great (1/144th scale for me please - but as they may be developping both scales !) Any news about the P-1, anybody? Eric B. Edited January 17 by Eric B.

Thank you, A 72nd scale guy but opening the door to 1/144th scale for liners sized aircraft... We'll have a nice 2025 with the Academy P-8 and E-7A, X-Scale P-3, PitsRoad Kawasaki P1 and GWH C-130. Eric B.
seiran01 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 It’ll be great indeed! Plus having the choice of two brand new P-3s in 1/144 (Academy is doing it later this year as well) is a win for all. How bad is the nose shape on the Aoshima C-2, and how major a fix will it need in the absence of a correction part? Come on, Pit Road, give us a glimpse of the P-1 progress please! 😁

The problem isn't just the nose, rather it extends to the wing root. The aftermarket set sold here shows the extent of correction that's necessary for a more accurate C-2. https://runway34rmodels.booth.pm/items/3914596 PS Apparently the engine cowlings were wrong too.🥴 https://runway34rmodels.booth.pm/items/3285752 1
