Popular Post Covjets13
Good evening peeps, Here’s my latest project which I’d like to share with you all. It the companion to XM607 which I posted a couple of months ago. Here is the Airfix offering. Not without its problems…and not the kit or the build…so purchased for the dreaded evil-bay to find out it’s missing 2 sprues, decals and instructions….. So purchase another but it was a B2 booking in a K2 box….aggghhhh. So with lots of help with the guys from my model club, it’s finally finished with aftermarket decals and lots from the spares box. The “dayglo” is all masked so I could try and replicate the faded look, as is the attempt to show the faded paint on the Victors stationed at Wideawake in ‘82. Anyway enough waffle, hope you enjoy. I loved building this kit, no filler, and intake vaines worked perfectly And here are the Vulcan and Victor next to each other. My tribute to the heroism and airmanship of the two crews 40 years ago. Many thanks for looking. Cheers Si 86

modelling minion
A beautiful result Simon, she looks absolutely fantastic. You have captured the faded and well used look of the Victors at Wideawake very well and she, and your Vulcan, are a very fitting tribute to the bravery of the crews. Very well done mate.

kev67
Excellent builds I especially like the Victor, I tried many years ago to do the Rareplanes vac kit long before the Matchbox released their kit, but I only got to finish one wing before it was binned, I've since bought the new Airfix Victor at Telford when it came out, so this gives me some inspiration to start it

Covjets13
Thank you all for you positive reaction. After reading XM607 I had to honour the longest then bombing raid, and the utter selfless airmanship of Bob Tuxfords crew. If I’ve inspired more Victors and Vulcans to be built, that’s brill, and supporting our own plastic manufacturer to boot. So what next….not sure…Airfix Bucc with the new NeOmega cockpit. (I believe it’s been redone and will be cast and available very soon) Cheers Si

Just test fit the wing to fuselage joint, I just needed a couple of swipes of the sanding stick. You will need more weight in the nose than Airfix recommend. cheers Si

I use both Tamiya and Gunze and use 10% paint to 90% IPA thinner. I then keep going over and over until I’m happy with the effect. It is time consuming but it works. Then it’s oils and pastels…. Dayglo was a different kettle of fish as the red goes to yellow, but I did do lots of practice pieces before I did the top side of the Victor. Anyway, ramble over, thanks again for your kind words. cheers Si 1
