Viking Spear...1/48 Saab J32B Lansen, Svenska Flygvapnet

As all good things come in three, after the Harvard and the Saab 17, here´s my dad´s third and last Swedish subject in a row.

Gonna do a Lansen, using the Hobby Boss kit. As usual with HB kits, shapes and dimensions aren´t completely correct in several areas but it looks like a Lansen, costs only half the money of the Tarangus kit and is easier to build

Regarding the markings, gonn use Moose Republic decals (Swedish company, printed by Cartograf) but don´t know which scheme it will be.

the kit includes only decals for the front IB, the rear one has to be painted. There are also decals for the sidewall instruments but my dad decided to paint all the other instruments

will use the kit seats

there are resin seats and a deatiling PE set from Maestro Models, the latter one produced by Eduard but not sold by Eduard

both would cost 3/4 of the HB kit price, so my dad decided to use the kit seats and do some scratch seatbelts

Nice progress on a Swedish classic (and one of my all time favourites).

Does the kit contain usable parts for the air brakes, or are you going to use some after market parts? And have you decided on the paint scheme already?

Cheers,

Antti

Gonna do the airbrakes closed.

The kit contains plastic brakes with PE detail parts. I´ve read in another Lansen build thread that they are a bit too small and the shape isn´t completely correct.

The only aftermarket stuff I know is from Maestro Models who offer a PE set for the brakes.

Concerning the scheme, my dad decided for the first one with the nose ring.

I built the Tarangus kit and created scratch built air brakes. It wasn't easy but I'm happy with the result. When PE parts later became available I thought that I took the easier way after all.

I'm tempted to try my hands on this Hobbyboss kit also.

Cheers,

Antti

Looking good like this. Nice work on the louvres.

With regards to the preshade, I will test this for the first time, but a friend of mine sprays this on one side of the line only...

everybody has different techniques 🙂
